@lodgiktech @ScottRoberts You’re right that context matters—but the Bible itself points toward restoration. From Exodus laws to Jesus’ teachings and Galatians 3:28, the text moves toward equality, dignity, and unity. Being made in God’s image contradicts treating people as property.

I'd agree that there's "some" text in the Bible that leans those ways. But there's a lot of things in there which do the opposite. And many biblical stories were told centuries before by other religious stories of other kinds. I think it's the people who utilize these texts that are the matter. Not the texts themselves or the god beliefs behind them.

@lodgiktech @ScottRoberts The Bible regulates practices that already existed—it doesn’t endorse them as ideal. When read as a whole, its message moves toward dignity, equality, and freedom (Galatians 3:28), which is exactly why many abolitionists were driven by Christian conviction

The biggest threat to Christianity isn't atheism. It's fake Christianity. A gospel with no repentance. A faith with no obedience. A church with no truth.
