The reason the #Steelers offense will work, if it does, is because of Russ's experience & football IQ. Nobody, or very few, actually get that. That encompasses a LOT of things. But THAT is the reason.
Football IQ is hard to show on a film clip. Nat'l analysts who got it wrong are now trying to explain his success. Air under his passes seems to be the top choice now as they all parrot Chris Collinsworth. Very little original thought in nat'l media analysis. It's Football IQ/experience. Period.

@Dameshek Obviously they do have a separator. Need to use him even more. Nice to see DW used a little bit. Cautiously optimistic about where things are headed. 24 a season high even with 2 turnovers and none from defense.

I actually think it was a step forward for Fields today:
1) Continues to be accurate with the ball & generally good decisions. Those are numbers 1, 2 & 3 most important things for a QB.
2) Starting to get a better understanding of when to run. Smith needs to make this a bigger part of gameplan (repeating myself).
3) Showing on-field leadership & composure. Bouncing back from bad plays. In command of the team.

Weekly q: What do Russ advocates think he can do that'd offset the distinct skills Fields brings? (Preemptive response to your, which will point out 2's flaws) Russ has the SAME flaws: Loose w the ball, holds onto it too long... ALSO, 3 can't throw to MOF & doesn't move as well

Justin Fields unexpectedly got 3 weeks to show if he had the goods. For the first time, today, he showed he did.
And that may be because Arthur Smith opened the play-calling up a bit. Finally. #Steelers

@DavidMTodd I hope all the local clowns see why wilson being named starter means nothing, he is very limited in what he can provide at this point in his career, fields has his own limitations but also attributes to this offense, there should be no hesitantly to ride the hot hand here

And yes, they're likely going to have to rework his contract. I'm not sure about a paycut but there's other ways to reduce cap hit. I think Pittsburgh will figure it out

Know Cam Heyward said he has to evaluate things in the offseason but he certainly doesn't sound like someone planning to retire. Expect him back in 2024. #Steelers
