Hit me with the craziest Mumbai history facts you know.

Before modern multinational banks reached Southeast Asia, merchants from 75 villages in Tamil Nadu had already built a transnational financial system. They financed rice in Burma, rubber in Malaya, retail in Singapore, plantations in Ceylon — connected not by contracts but by kinship and reputation. This is the story of the Chettiars.🧵

I have known SKY since he was in his late 20s and have seen him grow from a flamboyant to a calm human being. He didn't need to wish a small journalist like me on my birthday or keep asking how my family was doing. But he did. Whenever I spoke to him about his India chances he always used to say his time would come. Imagine the self belief that you look Virat Kohli in the eye despite knowing that if you hurt the ego of the Indian captain you might never get that India call up. A person who always stood up for himself, who always has been a gold of a human being, is getting targetted by his own fans even after his team dominated a T20 World Cup and broke the Ahmedabad curse. You need to be a horrible human being to pray for SKY and India to lose the final and target him on his caste. That is horribly low. Those who watched the T20 World Cup ball by ball know how crucial SKY's batting in the group stage and then tactics were. Especially his plan against Finn Allen in the final after he was dropped. Such things only true cricket fans understand. Love how he has rattled a few FCs with his statements. I had a problem with some of his statements too but doubting him as a human being just shows what kind of a person you are. Absolutely loving it that individual worshippers and haters will have to deal with SKY the World Cup winning captain for the rest of their lives. Beautiful. Deserving. Poetic. Good things happen to good people ❤️🧿 #T20WorldCup

When the star batter was out, almost always, the game felt finished too. And then, slowly, without anyone noticing, Indian fans started placing their faith somewhere new. In a bowler. How Jasprit Bumrah changed the way a generation watches cricket ⬇️ wisden.com/series/icc-men…

Shahid Afridi recalled how the Pakistan team was rattled by the roaring Indian crowd in the 2011 World Cup semi-final after the first wicket fell. The noise lifted India, and some Pakistan players were so nervous they hesitated to even walk out to bat.
