@FabrizioRomano Think he’s ability to not get booked in his last 2 Champions League games is even more remarkable, well done to the referees.

Newcastle spent £98million on summer signings Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey. 💰 That's £7million more than Barcelona paid for their entire starting XI. 🤯

"A moving moment". How Liam Rosenior's appointment at Chelsea breaks barriers for Black and English coaches, featuring Paul Canoville, Paul Elliott and Kick It Out. Elliott signs off: "But let's not forget - he's there on merit. He's there on talent." bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

More on Liam Rosenior's Chelsea appointment. 5.5-year contract with a 12-month option. First game will be Charlton in the FA Cup on January 10. Chelsea believe Rosenior's personality and leadership skills are well-suited to the squad. His playing style is similar to Enzo Maresca leading to a smooth transition. Rosenior's teams play in a controlled manner and he has proven at Strasbourg he can build connections and chemistry, both on and off the field. Rosenior's arrival also means Chelsea's long-term recruitment plans are unaltered despite Maresca's unplanned mid-season departure. Chelsea's leadership want a possession-based team, who control games and start with a solid defensive base. Understand Rosenior also impressed by showing he could work collaboratively, and he had a strong record of both improving players and keeping them fit at Strasbourg. Rosenior is viewed as someone who can build a long-term bond with Chelsea supporters. He wanted to start off by announcing his departure in France out of respect to Strasbourg, but made it clear Chelsea was too strong an offer and club to turn down. His handling of media duties have gone down well with the Chelsea hierarchy. Ultimately, Chelsea feel Roseinior is an elite coach with huge potential and can bring continuity and stability to the Chelsea project, with the added bonus of several pre-existing relationships with Chelsea's leadership and sporting team.🔵

Lincoln 1 Chelsea 2. Facundo Buonanotte walks through the Lincoln defence and has the composure to finish for his first Chelsea goal. Excellent response by Chelsea after being behind at the break.🇦🇷

@DougieCritchley Hasn’t started over 21 games in a league season for 6 years, why is that good for Sunderland if he’s only available 1 in every 2?

Nordi Mukiele to Sunderland... oh my word! I can't tell you how many Football Daily videos between 2017-2020 I included Mukiele in... touting him for moves to Man United, to Spurs... I can't quite believe it. Here's what you need to know: 🇫🇷 27 year old French defender, right footed, comfortable playing at centre back and right back 🇫🇷Got his first big chance at Montpellier, helped them to 10th in 2017/18 alongside the likes of Jonathan Ikone, Jerome Roussillon and Ellyes Shkhiri who have all gone on to have decent top level careers 🇫🇷None rose as high as Mukiele though. He transferred to Leipzig in 2018, plays 3 seasons of Champions League football, wins the DFB Pokal 🇫🇷At Leipzig, often plays in a back 3 or as a right back 🇫🇷 Transfers to PSG in 2022, his first season is ruined by injuries, they already have Hakimi, and sign Hernandez and Pacho in the next 2 summers 🇫🇷 Loaned to Leverkusen for 24/25. Misses 8 games with injury, probably plays his best football in the Champions League. Pros: 👏 A 27 year old, physical defender with YEARS of top level experience playing for the likes of Leipzig, PSG and Leverkusen 👏Can cover CB and RB, two positions Sunderland needed to upgrade 👏He's always been a very active, dominant defender... in his peak at Leipzig 5.5 defensive actions p/game, even last year 3.6 👏Generally excellent in the air... had 5 consecutive seasons of winning at least 64% of his aerial duels, twice averaging over 77% Cons: ❌ Honestly for a club of Sunderland's stature I'm struggling to think of any... ❌But if I had to say something... perhaps his injury record/ability to play consistently. He hasn't started over 21 League games in a season since his Montpellier days. My biggest concern ahead of the start of the season, as outlined in my YouTube video this week, was our depth at centre back and right back. This transfer solves both. I absolutely love it. We have signed more than 1 Champions League level player. More great work from our recruitment team!

@JacobsBen How much are Liverpool paying you for that bollocks? They knew 110 would be rejected. All a case of another way to further unsettle the situation.

More on Alexander Isak.🇸🇪 - Liverpool say no second bid planned as it stands, as revealed. - Bid was £110m fixed, with no add-ons. - Personal terms with Isak not a problem. - Liverpool bid with optimism this morning, but Newcastle's response was so quick and strong another bid is not currently in the works. - Key now is how Isak responds. Newcastle hoping he reintegrates and are prepared to offer him a new contract, likely with the ability to leave next summer. - Should Isak double down, and continue to push for a move, and Newcastle find striker replacements, Liverpool could revisit their stance, but only if #NUFC contact them to offer encouragement. Liverpool won't bid again unless Newcastle indicate they will discuss a sale.

Newcastle won 3-0 and played in second gear. Defence looked shaky though. All well and good this push for UCL but there’s not a lot of depth and a great run of form shouldn’t cloud the immediate need for a new RW, CB, and probably GK this month.

Eddie Howe & his staff are known for player development, but the hours put into Lewis Hall is incredible. At one point, Hall wondered if they thought he wasn't very good given all the extra work. "No, it's because they think you could be brilliant" he was told. Big read #nufc 👇

I wanted to wait until cold light of morning before commenting on new Carabao Cup format and my view is exactly same as it was last night… WTF are they doing? Why do four Euro teams get guaranteed home draws and just two away? That’s the definition of rigged in their favour. 🤬

Just something someone said to me today set a little alarm ringing in my head. You know that nagging voice in your head. The same one that tells me to post dancing videos that provoke so much rage in some people on here and make me laugh a lot, yeah that voice. The mischievous one. I just wonder that’s all…

I know what would be funny. Annoying but funny if it happens. What if Newcastle haven’t really been trying to sign Guehi for several weeks now and are instead working on a secret blockbuster deal that they’ve managed to keep secret all this time. With just over 48 hours of the window left, I think I’ve had enough now #NUFC

@Neilfarrington Ridiculous that he changed formation rather than waiting to see if Koeman could stop what was working for England in the first half.

@CraigHope_DM Any idea why Southgate decided to change what was working in the first half rather than see if Koeman could work out how to stop it? The change in formation by Southgate has killed them.
