@LiveatOriel Think the video is 1989. Liam Coyle burst onto the LOI scene towards end of 1988. By end of 1989 he was crocked with the knee injury.

@weepep Plans to build a similar stand behind the other net were mentioned before by Sean Barrett. Sensible pricing and match day experience will bring the crowds. Not sure how Celtic Park will fair on a miserable wet night for us though due to lack of cover.

Can we all agree that the brandywell is far too small for Derrys support and ambitions as celtic part proved ie fanzone music pints and pies better pricing structure allowing more fans in tho I don't see us moving given all the recent upgrades and money spent Can we add capacity?

@Licha0741 @BrianJustBrian He tore up a solid back 4/5 that served us well last season. Has no concept of cohesion....thinks you can just chop and change the team every week and expect players to click

@BrianJustBrian 💯 Brian , the player turn over in the winter is what’s messed this up and it’s totally on him . We allowed players to leave the club that are miles better than what we brought in . Gavin Whyte sums up his reign. Fucking shambles

He won't walk. 18 months left on his deal. Pin has to be pulled. An appointment that promised so much has spiralled into such negligent regression that it has put the progress of the club back a year or two. You wouldn't believe this was happening unless you witnessed it yourself
Patrick Downey@downeyderry

I always try and be positive with all things @derrycityfc but this is beyond a joke now. OUR manager thinks we was 1 nil down. OUR club needs to take action, TL heart, mind and soul is not in this club. He and PoD should shake hands 🤝 and part ways.

@KillianM2 That sounds familiar. Was that the last time Ireland played in Dalymount?

@KillianM2 Thanks for sharing that. It was the week after the FAI cup match between the two hence the smaller attendance. Can you remember why it was played on a Friday night?

@BrianJustBrian From Charlton Athletic. Great delivery from wide areas in 1st half that Dipo and Boyce would thrive on

@KEVKEAY He was the fella on the right, came off in second half announced as trialist 1 I believe. Most of the 1st team panel were at the game, but not in the squad I noticed

@bradley_steve @Robbyfootyfocus I think the top Irish league teams are now full time? That wasn't the case when Setanta Cup was around and was the main reason for the gap between the competing teams

@Robbyfootyfocus The gap between the 2 leagues is increasing continually, which renders it fairly pointless. The IL were at-best lukewarm on it before, & would presumably be even less interested now. They'd rather play for the Co.Antrim Shield

What do we think NIFL and LOI fans, time to bring back a new version of the sentanta cup if it was possible to do so?
IFB Media@IFBMedia

IS IT TIME TO REVIVE THE “SETANTA” CUP? One of the central themes since IFBs inception has been my desire for a joint up “All Island League”…. That would require egos being parked from both sides of the isle in the hope of a more prosperous future for Irish Football! In 2019 businessman Kieran Lucid launched ambitious plans for an “All Island League” but it failed to pick up the needed momentum. For me, I think this was the much needed step to collectively rise standards when it comes to. Standard of Football ✅ Prize Money ✅ Marketing ✅ Interest ✅ So on and so forth… But realistically, egos from certain stakeholders won’t allow this to occur. And with plans in place for an expanding of the tiers South of the Border. Realistically though I’d much rather an All Island League. Maybe a revive of the “Setanta” Cup could be in order? In 2005 the Cup launched as an ambitious cross border tournament for FAI and IFA clubs. Sponsored by broadcaster Setanta Sports, it ran for 9 seasons from 2005-2014 with the last final in 2015 before being disbanded. Facts Started with 6 → grew to 8–12 → back to 8. Format: Groups Knockouts changed to qualifiers & quarters. 🏆 LOI = 7 IFA = 2 (Linfield + Crusaders) There were issues: - Rivalries/ Sectarian Tension - Low Crowds outside of Derbies - Setanta went bust, tanking prize money which led to funding issues. - Northern clubs withdrew due to scheduling problems. A lot of has changed since, including the post Covid 19 bounce particularly in the LOI. I see it in the reactions to our content the appetite is there. We’ve also seen the Women’s All Island Cup start since 2023. For me I don’t see the difference in “standard” being pronounced enough to be an issue. Yes, the top LOI sides are superior (see slides) but I think it would be on the whole competitive. Scheduling for me is the greatest issue to resolve. The LOI season runs from February until October/early November. Then we have one of the longest off-seasons in Europe. We don’t even have the League Cup anymore! The Irish League season then runs from August until May. So where to schedule it? That is the question. Expand the season? The European Window?
