We do NOT take donations, money, or property for any reason. We do NOT ask for or accept cash donations or volunteers for disaster response. If you encounter someone claiming to represent FEMA asking for money, be careful as that is likely a scam. 👉 fema.gov/helene-rumors

Rainfall has shifted slightly east Flood Watches through Friday have been expanded across the Greenbrier Valley, the northeast mountains and eastern panhandle. ⚠ Despite drought conditions, locally heavy rain in narrow valleys may cause streams and creeks to flood out (1/2)

NEW: Dog starts a house fire in Tulsa, Oklahoma after chewing through a portable lithium-ion battery. The Tulsa Fire Department released the following video to warn people about the "dangers of lithium-ion batteries." Two dogs and a cat were filmed hanging out before one of the dogs started the fire with the battery pack. The animals were filmed in the living room on an indoor monitoring camera, observing the fire before it got out of hand. "Lithium-ion batteries are known for storing a significant amount of energy in a compact space," the fire department said. "However, when this energy is released uncontrollably, it can generate heat, produce flammable and toxic gases, and even lead to explosions." The pets were able to escape the home through a dog door.

Tropical Storm Debby isn’t finished with the Southeast yet! The slow-moving storm is expected to make a second landfall in South Carolina on Thursday, posing a significant flooding threat to the area. As we continue to monitor the storm, more than 770 disaster volunteers are working alongside partners and local officials to provide: - Safe shelter for those seeking refuge from the heat, flooding and storm damage. - Food, water and other relief items to communities across four states. - Basic health services in shelters and help with replacing items such as eyeglasses and prescriptions. How You Can Help: Donate to help people affected by Hurricane Debby. Financial donations are desperately needed and will enable us to respond to this ongoing disaster and provide recovery support to those affected for days and weeks to come. Visit rdcrss.org/4chHFq8 or text ‘DEBBY’ to 90999 to make a $10 donation.

Tropical Storm Debby’s effects may be felt all along the East Coast as the storm moves north. Red Cross disaster responders are working diligently across four states to support people impacted by Debby’s wrath of torrential rainfall, catastrophic flooding and downed power lines. This is still a dangerous storm expected to cause deadly flooding, with as much as 30 inches of rain predicted. Be prepared to evacuate quickly if local officials advise and follow these tips to stay safe: - Stay off flooded roads. A foot of water can carry your car away. - Move to higher ground before flooding begins. - Have a plan for your pets if you need to evacuate. - Update your loved ones with your evacuation plans.
