Yes, the next phase is all about attention to implementation-1. enforcement to reach 15% spend 2. assurance that increased PC spending truly flows to front line practices 3. our own accountability for increased investment improving care
Douglas Henley, MD, FAAFP@fammedfeisty

It could be VERY big but it will depend on how CA allows the money (the investment) to be counted. The insurers will surely try and shift money bogus monies to primary care to reach the 15% threshold but that will not help at all if allowed to get away with this. But a great goal!

This was the night RBG died, maybe within an hour of the announcement. While I did not intend to drink on live television (I had gotten up from dinner to do the hit & brought my wine glass without thinking) I will always stand by the fact that it was appropriate to do so.

This is a TOTAL mess Physicians face an average of 57 unique quality measures across 8 value-based contracts Many, if not most of these measures are worthless Administrative waste Burnout inducers Costly Takes away from real quality improvement

@kgrumbach We’ve been able to bill for clinic care management and transitional care for several years. I haven’t yet understood how this is different. Please explain details.

Understandable coping strategy by PCPs in face of overwhelming workload in #PrimaryCare. But compounding access problem when fewer PCPs per capita + smaller panel sizes per PCP. US needs A LOT more PCPs and investment in PC teams to meet the nation’s needs.

We discovered one more reason people have such difficulty accessing primary care: the avg family physician is caring for 25% fewer patients than they were a decade ago. New study with @TheCFHPV of family physician panel sizes now out jabfm.org/content/37/3/5…

The burden should be on the plan, not the physician or their patients. Also, prior auth is a financial tool not a health care tool. It's not about appropriate care, it's about maximizing interest earnings - sorry, it is true.

Agree with @AOC with one friendly amendment: “…WILL be subject to”
Kevin Frey@KevinJFrey

Rep. @AOC says @KamalaHarris is "more than up to the task." Also warns re: Harris: "It's going to be very important that we brace ourselves for some of the unfair, misogynistic, and racial undertones, overtones, explicit attacks and implicit attacks that she may be subject to."

Mostly what we need is a plan, not just exhortation - more socioeconomic diversity in med students, moving education into communities, and using economic strategies to attract physicians to underserved communities. There is $ to do this. Make a PLAN. @AAFP_advocacy
Primary Care Collaborative (PCC)@PCPCC

Many people struggle to find and keep a primary care clinician, especially in low-income and rural areas. Our health care system's front door is closing on our most vulnerable communities. We need to rebuild and reimagine primary care. thepcc.pub/Health-is-Prim…
