We just burned down 7 years of infrastructure. And rebuilt everything from zero. 1B+ API calls. 1000+ customers. 100+ chains. Here's why 🧵

Nobody cared when I started. Very few supported the process. But everybody noticed the results. Now, I must deliver results consistently to become you, bro. And I promise, I won't let you down.

Immediately I saw this post, I just remembered my school (unizik) and my wonderful department (mechanical engineering). This story is for that unfortunate fellow that wants to study mechanical engineering in unizik. Sometime during my 300L, that was around 2023, the dean of the 'faculty of engineering' as at then was a mechanical engineering lecturer and a prof. Can't remember his name, but there was this 70% attendance rule myth (was a myth to students) he was trying to enforce. The rule was that if you didn't meet up 70% attendance, no exam for you. And just like in other schools and other departments in Nigeria, that rule is almost never enforced. But this man had something different in mind. By 300L second semester exam time, only my department (Mech Eng) enforced that rule properly and in only one course (MCE 352)... I can remember the tension that day😂, we were about 20+ fellows outside that day that didn't write the exam. At first it looked like a joke, maybe they would allow us later. But after 1hr we knew these guys were damn serious. Summary is that we later didn't write the exam and automatically had carry overs for the course. Fast forward to 2024, in my 400L. We still thought there is no way this department we allow us carry over a course to finals when they know the stress already waiting for us in 500L Obviously I can't even blame anyone, I myself was working and looking for money to sort my bills so I had to stay at home for extra 1 month before I resumed school. Little did we know that our lecturers did not only resume lectures on the first day of resumption, but they also had quizzes and assignments they used to score students after each class. Like you can't submit for an assignment if you didn't attend the class😂, it was hell. I resumed one month later to find out that I already missed 3 quizzes and about 4 assignments. Mad.... But yunno, I was actually a good student upstairs, so I relied strictly on exams. Like I was ready to smash 60/70 on each exam for that semester. So, the time table for exam later came out and finally the day for the first exam came around. Another banger happened that day.... 😂😂This one was really funny. I mean, we were fucking 66+ folks that didn't meet up with attendance. And we were like nah this is too much to give Fs, cause we even had about 10 carry over and 3 spill over in btw us writing the same exam. 30 mins later, we were still confident that we would write the exams. 45 mins later, there was still vibes. 1h30m later, everywhere first blurrr😹😹😹. No exams for that day Okay we came the next day, about 50 persons were outside and I was still among them, like mehhhh Summary is that, I didn't write 4 exams back to back, like fucking 4!!!!!!!!!!! out of 9 exams total I only wrote 5. That incident weakened me, cause after the first 2, I stopped reading and waited for attendance the morning before I opened my book to revise. Lollll😹 My only luck was that I'm a workaholic when I want to be. In 500L 1st semester, I wrote 12 exams and had 2 Cs & 3 As & 7 Bs, which later took me back to 4.01. Moral lesson of the story is that, you should never underestimate your school authority, especially when it comes to scenarios like this. And I'm actually wrong in my 2nd sentence. You will actually enjoy studying mechanical engineering in unizik. And I actually learnt to appreciate that experience; thought me alot about competence and excellency outside education. I also appreciated some lecturers later...Prof Onyema Azaka in particular 😹😹😹 ( any recent mech eng graduate for unizik go understand) Except you guide or you have solid reason, have a good attendance. You will understand later. Outside education especially.
