Addressed the nation from State House Nairobi and invited all Kenyans to begin the most consequential national conversation since the promulgation of our Constitution in 2010 - a conversation to shape the country's next long-term development plan beyond Vision 2030. This is not a Government project. It is not a political agenda; it is a national undertaking that belongs to every Kenyan. The question before us is simple but profound: What kind of Kenya do we want to leave to future generations? Over the past six decades, nations that were once at the same level of development with Kenya have transformed into global economic powerhouses. South Korea, China and Singapore made bold choices, planned for the long-term and invested in their people. We, too, must have the courage to ask why we have not fulfilled our full potential and, more importantly, what we must do differently. Our Constitution calls on us to do more than govern. It calls on us to expand opportunity, uphold human dignity, create wealth and improve the lives of every citizen. Healthcare, quality education, affordable housing and food security must become measurable realities for every Kenyan. Consequently, we will on 12th August, 2026, launch a nationwide public consultation that will bring together citizens from every walk of life - young people, professionals, businesses, faith leaders, academia, workers and civil society - to build a shared vision for our nation's future. Together, we will define the next chapter of Kenya's story and build an industrialised, globally competitive and prosperous nation for generations to come.
