#PhysEd Question of the Day
What is something you learned later in your career that would have been helpful to know earlier in your career?
#PhysEdQotD
@GingerAaron I would’ve spent at least a semester traveling/studying abroad. Also, I may have told myself to start at a JuCo so I could keep playing ball a little longer.
@GingerAaron Light, fun read to end summer “Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk” by Kathleen Rooney and “Answering Why” by Mark C. Perna for my professional development for my Advisory class
@GingerAaron I like to ask students what activities they’ve enjoyed in other classes. I also like online resources, following #PhysEd community, reading JOPERD
#PhysEd Question of the Day
Do you ever feel stuck in the same routine? Stuck on repeat, doing the same thing over and over?
How do you break out of this? What are your tips/strategies to keeping things new and fresh?
#PhysEdQotD
@GingerAaron I would love to spend some time reviewing all of my units. We are adopting a new bell schedule next year so I will need to adapt my pacing schedule.
#PhysEd Question of the Day
If you had 30 extra minutes of prep time in your schedule, how would you use it? What could you do with more time?
#PhysEdQotD
@CoachMatheson I used to do resolutions but now I prefer selecting a #oneword to guide my year. I like this better as I pick a word that will help me with a daily mindset versus trying to achieve or maintain a resolution.
@GingerAaron Yes I have an option for song suggestions in our getting to know you form and then I take ongoing verbal requests or via a Google form throughout the year to keep it fresh. I tell them they have to be school appropriate. I love getting introduced to music I might it listen to
#PhysEd Question of the Day
What’s your favorite way to stay physically active? Do you prefer activities that are solo or activities that include several other people?
#PhysEdQotD
@trentsuzuki@JaredRagoPE@BolgersPowerPE Agree! Relationships first. When students know you care about them as individuals the rest will be easier (not always easy but you will have more commitment from your students). Network with other teachers, keep your sense of humor, have a solid plan but be flexible.
@JaredRagoPE@BolgersPowerPE You’re going to do awesome! Learn names asap, make meaningful eye contact & say the name of every student every class if possible. Build those relationships & you’ll be a powerful inspiration to your students daily. You got this!
Tomorrow I begin the amazing journey of student teaching! If anyone has any tips, tricks, or advice, please send it my way! I will be in a high school until about March, which I will then move over to my elementary placement with @BolgersPowerPE . So excited!
I love seeing my timeline in Honolulu Blue. I never, in my lifetime, thought I’d see the day the @Lions would win the division. I’ve been so loyal to them since the day I was born. I could cry right now. Merry Christmas.
