The contract represents the first joint agreement for GCAP - a transformational trilateral partnership comprising the UK, Italy, Japan - to develop a next-generation combat aircraft. Headquartered in Reading, with major operations across the UK, Italy, and Japan, Edgewing was awarded the contract by the GCAP Agency, which manages GCAP on behalf of the three nations. The £686 million funding will support key engineering and design initiatives intended to accelerate the aircraft’s delivery timeline.
