🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨 🚨 RECYCLED 2014, 2017, 2018 IMAGES USED BY DAILY TRUST NEWSPAPER TO MISREPRESENT JILLI AIRSTRIKES Security analysts have discovered that images circulating in certain media outlets including @daily_trust deliberately depicting the aftermath of recent military airstrikes in Jilli, Gubio Local Government Area of Borno are false and misleading. Findings indicate that the photos being widely shared are not from the April 11, 2026 operation but are recycled images from 2014, 2017 and 2018 during earlier phases of the insurgency. The use of such outdated visuals has contributed to the spread of misinformation, particularly claims alleging civilian casualties in the Jilli strikes. “These photos being circulated are fake. They are old images from 2014, 2017 and 2018 being repurposed to mislead the public and distort the reality of the operation,” Military said. Worthy to note that no media been able to visit the scene of the attacks as Jilli remains a long-established insurgent enclave, widely regarded as a “no man’s land” with no legitimate civilian presence, and primarily used by terrorist groups for logistics and coordination. And how did daily trust arrived at the insinuation of 200 civilians killed in a red zone area used majorly by terrorists according to military sources and Borno State Governor Zulum. They warned that the use of misleading visuals risks inflaming public sentiment and undermining confidence in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

Man of Letters.
Man of Letters.@Letter_to_Jack·
Letter to Engineer David Umahi, the Honorable Minister of works and infrastructure. Cc @FMWNIG @AdeolaYAYI @akinalabi @NGRSenate @NGRPresident @HouseNGR. Concerns on the Quality of Construction on Otta- Idiroko International Highway in Ogun State. Honorable Minister, I want bring to your attention the valid concerns that have been raised about the quality of construction on the ongoing Otta—Idiroko international highway. Residents have complained through various channels, including organized press briefings, to call your attention to the troubling standard of work currently ongoing in the area. The Ogun State Comptroller of Works, who should ordinarily act in your stead given the demanding nature of your national assignment, has reportedly remained unresponsive to calls and messages. As you are aware sir, this road is a major route within the West African corridor and serves as a very busy entry point. It is where many foreigners get their first glimpse of what Nigeria’s road infrastructure revamp under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT looks like. The general public assessment of the construction from residents and road users has been largely negative. Drainages appear weak, with some stretch already collapsing just weeks after completion. There are also growing concerns and doubts about the structural integrity of the flyovers. As well as the very slow pace of work. A pivotal international highway such as the Otta—Idiroko expressway requires constant attention to even the smallest details, and an absolute guarantee of the highest standards. I respectfully urge you to take time out of your busy schedule to personally visit this project, as it is of utmost importance to Nigeria’s trade routes, and ensure that the highest quality is restored. If the contractor proves unwilling to meet expectations, kindly consider terminating the contract and awarding it to a more competent and serious contractor. Thank you for your continued efforts. It is my hope that swift action will be taken to address these concerns and avert any potential disasters that may arise from poor construction. Man of Letters. Ogun State.

POWER SECTOR REFORM: PRESIDENT TINUBU APPROVES N3.3 TRILLION PAYMENT PLAN TO RESTORE RELIABLE ELECTRICITY   President Bola Tinubu has approved the payment plan to finally settle the outstanding debts under the Presidential Power Sector Financial Reforms Programme.   The debt repayment plan followed the final review of the legacy debts that have beset the power sector for more than a decade.   The long-standing debts accumulated between February 2015 and March 2025. Following verification, ₦3.3 trillion has been agreed as a full and final settlement, ensuring a fair and transparent resolution.   Implementation has begun, with 15 power plants signing settlement agreements totalling ₦2.3 trillion. The Federal Government has already raised ₦501 billion to fund these payments. Out of the amount, N223 billion has been disbursed, with further payments underway.   What this means for Nigerians: With payments reaching the power value chain, generation will be more stable. With power plants supported, electricity reliability will improve.   And as the sector stabilises, more investment, more jobs, and better service will follow.   “This programme is not just about settling legacy debts. It is about restoring confidence across the power sector — ensuring gas suppliers are paid, power plants can keep running, and the system begins to work more reliably”, explained Olu Arowolo-Verheijen, Special Adviser on Energy to President Tinubu.   “It is part of a broader set of reforms already underway — including better metering and service-based tariffs that link what you pay to the quality of electricity you receive.   “The government is also prioritising power supply to businesses, industries, and small enterprises — because reliable electricity is critical to creating jobs, supporting livelihoods, and growing the economy.   “The goal is simple: more reliable power for homes, stronger support for businesses, and a system that works better for all Nigerians”, she added.   President Tinubu has commended all stakeholders who supported efforts to resolve the legacy issues in the power sector. He has also confirmed that the next phase (Series II) will begin this quarter. Bayo Onanuga Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy) April 5, 2026
