Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are very short lived. @CageBioInc has developed an ionic liquid-based Hand sanitizer that lasts for at least 4 hours. A preprint describing the studies and the data should be out shortly on biorxiv.

Our thermoresponsive polymer system is also easy to handle. Merely by mixing the polymer and encapsulant in an aqueous solvent and increasing the solution temperature, the drug of choice can be safely encased inside the stable polymer coacervates.

These interactions regulate the encapsulation and release efficiency of a drug. The knowledge obtained form this study can be helpful to design an ideal drug delivery system.
