One thing I'm noticing in a lot of these ensemble runs is what's called "survivor bias". The members that go inland and die off quickly are gone in a couple days, so the only ones still with an active TC are the ones further south. This gives the impression of a tight ensemble cluster, when in reality it's a fairly small percentage of the ensemble showing that solution. We saw some similar things last year with Imelda and the track split.
