The club see him primarily as a left back, but also capable of playing further forward like LWB and midfield when needed. There are growing concerns at Chelsea over Marc Cucurella’s long term future, with the Spaniard understood to be open to returning to Spain in the future to be closer to his family. Chelsea view Barco as a player who could eventually provide long term balance on the left side under Alonso’s setup.
