This worrying development takes place in a wider context of debanking for political reasons, against both the right & the left. Banks have no right to interfere with legitimate journalistic activity. Lloyds must either disclose their rationale, or reinstate the account immediately.

Charging refugees for the support they receive is morally wrong. These are people who have fled war, torture and persecution. In practice, this will lock out the vast majority of refugees from obtaining settled status in the UK. Comparing this to the student loan system requires a shocking level of cognitive dissonance and dehumanisation of refugees.
