Surat Muslim woman murdered for objecting to son’s illicit affair with sister-in-law. Hamida Khatun’s younger son Parvez was in an illicit relationship with Shabana, who is the wife of his elder brother. Troubled by Hamida’s objections to the relationship and the financial disputes, Parvez, Shabana and Shabana’s father Firoz Alam allegedly conspired to eliminate her. On March 10, Parvez, Shabana and Firoz Alam allegedly strangled Hamida Khatun to death at their house. The accused then hid the body inside the house until March 11. Later, the body was packed in a sack and dumped near a temple. Why was the body dumped near a temple and not near a masjid or anywhere else? Was it to give a communal twist? After committing the murder, Parvez himself went to the police station and filed a missing complaint about his mother. He told police that his mother had gone to the market to buy clothes and had not returned. The victim’s hands and legs were tied, and she had been strangled to death. Investigators questioned both sons of the victim and visited the family home, where they recovered a rope similar to the one used to bind the victim’s hands and legs. This led police to suspect family involvement. Following sustained interrogation, both Parvez and Shabana eventually confessed to the crime. Meanwhile, Shabana’s father Firoz Alam was later caught from Patna Railway Station with the help of technical surveillance and the Bihar Special Task Force. Hamida Khatun(the mother) had allegedly been in a relationship with Shabana’s father, Firoz Alam, for several years. Typical illicit relation in a burqa. After the murder, Firoz Alam was captured on CCTV carrying the body inside a white sack while disposing of it. During interrogation, Parvez admitted that he was in a relationship with his sister-in-law Shabana.
