Our response to Israel's attack on our infrastructure employed FRACTION of our power. The ONLY reason for restraint was respect for requested de-escalation. ZERO restraint if our infrastructures are struck again. Any end to this war must address damage to our civilian sites.

@Vidyut A country which produces a trillion dollar company every few years won't get decimated and very very far from it.

Before you expect Iran to give a fuck about economic shock, remember what the US did to its currency to start the riots and "soften" Iran for this war. If I were Iran, decimating the US economy would be a feature, not bug.

Events overtake plans. That’s how you get sucked into bad decisions. “No plan of operations reaches with any certainty beyond the first encounter with the enemy's main force”. -Kriegsgechichtliche Einzelschriften (1880) Field Marshal Helmuth Von Moltke

SCOOP!!! Trump administration considering deploying thousands of additional troops to the Middle East as the military prepares options for the possible next phase of the Iran war. One option for securing the Strait of Hormuz includes deploying troops to Iranian shores. w/@idreesali114

This should have been on the front page of The New York Times. I speak to students in America and most have no idea that more than 30,000 Iranians were killed for protesting and demanding freedom. No names. No faces. No coverage. This silence kills me.💔 Thank you, Australia.

Sir, they are transiting because US and Israel are letting them transit and not attacking oil ships like they targeted their naval fleet. If strait closes, 90% of Iran's economy will be gone unless they find another way to export oil which is not an easy thing to do and one cannot carry such loads via land. They have attacked neighbors who won't be helping them either. With infrastructure gone, oil economy severely squeezed, continuous attacks on their existing infrastructure and existing sanctions, they can choose to fight till the end but the outcome is not favorable except getting accolades that "they fought back and showed no fear". My opinion, Sir.

@KS1ngh Currently it is the only one transiting the Hormuz. Long term problem. Land routes to China .

“Due to its Shia traditions, the present regime in Iran is likely to fight to the finish, hoping to rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. It is sanguine that the US will not launch a ground invasion. It is only a matter of time before a more formidable missile and drone arsenal is created. In the interim, asymmetrical war by other means will continue.”
Lt Gen H S Panag(R)@rwac48

Take a look! “Victory may be declared. However, since Iran is unlikely to capitulate, a strategic defeat of the US is ordained.” What's the prognosis of the US-Israel-Iran war? Strategic defeat of the US is ordained theprint.in/opinion/whats-…

@sanjukta It is true. I have been there and there are around 2 million Arabs who live in Israel with full democratic rights! More than some of the monarchies and dictatorships in the neighborhood.

What? Is this true? The Islamists on my timeline been saying that Israelis are big bad villain of all time, that they are doing genocide and they do not tolerate even a single non-Jewish people in their land. I am so confused. Don't know whom to believe.
Dr. Reda Mansour@RedaMansour

Sunni muslims are 18% of the Israeli population: 400 mosques all over the country. 200 official mosques financed by the Israeli government. 300 imams and muezzins are government employees with salaries and benefits. The Israeli government buys Quran books for these mosques.

@sappholives83 As armed as Texas is, no body in their right mind would even think of doing any such thing. It is a poor example.

I’m just going to say this — had Mexican soldiers invaded across the USA’s southern border on 10/7/2023 to rape and murder their way across part of Texas, then paraded the corpses of dead, naked American women around like trophies for the Mexican civilian population to spit on, by 10/7/2024, Mexico as an independent country would have ceased to exist — and no one would have said a word in protest. No one tells non-Jewish nations that they must turn the other cheek after acts of war. Only Israel is expected to meekly bury her dead; only Jews are supposed to constantly mourn, but never to retaliate; to accept butchery and brutality and bombings as the price they must pay for mere existence — and it has far less to do with Palestinian lives than it does with the age-old European conviction that Jews only exist so that the rest of society has someone to abuse.

Sacrifices, bravery etc doesn’t mean ‘win’! They are on their last legs and there is absolutely nothing they can do about it. Their main card of closing the strait impacts them more than anyone as their economy depends 90% on it. Good to be with underdog but Iran is not a good underdog either!

The reason Iran cannot be defeated is not because of the weapons and support..simply because they are fearless enuf to perish with pride..and you cannot defeat the one who has conquered fear..America and Israel will destroy half the world realising this !

Fresh reports of the US seeking a ceasefire but Iran refusing to budge. Iran is seeking a revised security architecture that makes geopolitical space for Iran as a major regional power whose interests are reflected in the post-war order. The US is merely seeking to cut its losses and save face without making any concessions. The gap between the two positions is difficult to bridge at this stage. The problem of conflict termination is further complicated by the fact that the regime and much of political-security establishment of one of the war parties is known to be under the influence of a fifth column.

@_sabanaqvi Living in US for 30 years never ever experienced or witnessed this kind of profiling before 2014. There are more stories behind this which have helped immigration authorities to mark Indians in US, some invited themselves being involved in massive visa frauds.

I don’t know what the right wing Hindutva lobbies that love US (and Israel)should worry about more. The fact that the US wishes for Indians to leave their country and is ready to pay a stipend cum air fare. Or that in American minds India is represented by the Taj Mahal

Might not look and sound obvious right now, but Saudi Arabia is coming out “better off” compared to UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait in this war. All three were challenging Saudi Arabia’s rise with their own financial / resource / influence ecosystems. So, was it…🤔

How Iran War is unfolding (19th day) ~ ~ ~ 1) War has escalated immensely in past 24 hours, and no hope of it getting over soon now. [massive fuel and economic crisis loading] 2) Israel (with US permission!) attacked Iran's huge Pars Gas field today. Expect no-holds-barred Iranian retaliation on national gas/oil infra across GCC. (something avoided so far). [Israel doesn't want the War to end at all, now] 3) After Larijani's murder, Israel says will kill every Iranian official it can, without restraint. Expect the same in return. [This will be the bloodiest phase; US helpless] 4) Extraordinary violence by Israel throughout Lebanon, entire residential buildings being destroyed. Gaza redux. [Regional footprint growing rapidly] 5) Strait of Hormuz closed - US ground-attack on Kharg island imminent [Most brutal phase of war arriving with huge loss of life] 6) US-Israel unable to digest Iran actually fought back, and lasted beyond the expected 7 days. Their actions show desperation, frustration and anger. 7) Grok of Musk is heavily censored now. Even X itself is heavily censored. Western media totally one-sided. A certain fallout: American aura of military invincibility (or morality) is dead.

Pakistan, with Chinese support, might emerge a huge winner from the USA-Israel vs Iran war. If Pakistan takes a stand that in case Israel uses nuclear weapons against Iran, it will wipe out Israel - then Pakistan will emerge as a hero in the Islamic world - a Shi'a Sunni bridge.

The West has never truly understood the East. Not because the East is complicated to understand, simply because the West keeps trying to read 5000 years old civilisations through a 2000 year old framework. So the entire western worldview, its philosophy, its science, its understanding of reality, its frameworks for meaning, all of it is built on foundations that are at most 2000 years old. And here lies the fallacy.

@MyselfLiberal H4 dependents should pay the full cost, just like all foreign F-1 students have to. If it is any amount, then it's wrong.

In Texas, an H-1b family of 4 gets up to 500,000$ in tuition assistance. Seems unbelievable doesn't it? In California it is close to 750,000$. That's because and H4 dependent of an H-1b is eligible for in-state tuition assistance, after 12 months of state residency. And this is true in most US states. It badly impacts State colleges and pushes our US citizens out of state colleges, and into more expensive institutions, which many cannot afford. H4 dependents should go home and get their free education in India. Or they should pay the full ride, just like all the other foreign students on F-1. Absolutely insane that we have allowed this to go on for decades. We take money from the poorest Texans and give it away to the richest foreign families so foreign kids can get free college education.
