This is from a gas station in Phoenix yesterday: $6.49 for a gallon of gas. All because Trump started war with no plan and no idea how it would affect everyday Americans.
I'm fighting to suspend the federal gas tax to bring families some relief, but what they really need is a president focused on lowering their costs.
@SenMarkKelly You tell service members to disobey illegal orders, then tell them the operation against Iran is illegal. You’re advocating mutiny within the armed forces of the United States. You are a disgrace.
@rickybucketz@MadmanMagic3@614clinton The federal maximum you can drive 12 hours. Your commute is three feet from sleeper to seat. I stayed out so I worked 5 days, took 34 hours off and did it again. It’s all federal regulations.
@KShrugged@MadmanMagic3@614clinton I had same question. Im single so its probably something good for non married people. Hiw many hours per day do u work? Per day and week if i may ask??
@rickybucketz@djustthetude@614clinton Yup. My sleeper had TV, microwave, laptop, fridge, and everything an apartment would need. Most truck stops have showers and laundry. It wasn’t a bad way to go
ICE is already at our airports.
Bringing heartbreaking scenes like this to an already chaotic environment.
And now Tom Homan and Donald Trump want them at every airport across America.
@MadmanMagic3@614clinton Short haul stuff, yes. 3 days out and home. Long haul like I did? No, unless your wife wants to go team with you. In that case, it’s a lifestyle that’s doable, but difficult.
@Gene1892149@gloomfactory@614clinton My home was my sleeper. My office was my drivers seat. I had a 3 foot commute to work and an entire continent to work in every day. Couldn’t smoke a bowl, but could absorb a nation through my windshield
@thedreadsimoon@614clinton The nights were the most isolated. Nothing but what your headlights give you and whatever is on the speaker in your cab. Bleak but beautiful if you’re not afraid your own thoughts.
@MadmanMagic3@614clinton Pay was OK. 90K annual, more if you hustle. I had a pretty decent kitchenette in my sleeper, but yeah it’s tough not to get fat. Takes self discipline, but that became part of the game for me.
@KShrugged@614clinton 2 questions for you.
How’s the pay?
Was it difficult to stay in shape during this time? I imagine you aren’t eating many home cooked meals and working out a lot
@PrimitiveX26911@614clinton I didn’t have that problem. I was always legal so DOT wasn’t an issue. Truck stops are mostly “don’t start none, won’t be none.” And traffic is like the weather, It’s just there. I hooked up in freight yards and dropped off in other freight yards. I didn’t stop much
@KShrugged@614clinton I dont agree .. Everytime you stop your dealing with assholes and Truck stops are #1 . You deal with shitty drivers constantly. DOT is a blast to deal with right?
@RandPaul Our federal government is the biggest threat to our national security. We don’t have a debt problem Rand, we have a spending problem. Stop the fraud waste and abuse, get rid of the alphabet agencies and govern responsibly for a change.
Our national debt is the greatest threat to our national security. The Iran war costs $1-2 billion a day. Farmers need billions to offset tariff losses. Storm damage needs billions more. None of it is paid for. All of it is borrowed. And Washington just keeps spending.
The day the Affordable Care Act passed was one of my proudest moments as president, because it meant that millions of Americans would have access to health care, some for the first time.
The ACA also prevented insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, allowed young people under the age of 26 to remain on their parents’ plan, expanded Medicaid, and so much more.
But the ACA was always meant to be a first step. We still have to do more to expand access and make health care more affordable for everyone.
@i_llwait@614clinton It’s weirdly opposite. You don’t see people, you see traffic. All of it small and fragile. You’re so much bigger, you just try not to hurt them. I did start to hate Subarus though. Subarus are all
a$$holes for some reason.
@KShrugged@614clinton If someone doesnt like people being on the road with thousands of them behind the wheel of their cars is quite literally the opposite of what they would want lol
@BrandonE0388@Nateinidaho@gloomfactory@614clinton I drove while I fought my X over my farm. I got the farm back so came off the road. It was a great way to always have a place to sleep, a good paycheck, and not have to deal with other humans.
@Nateinidaho@gloomfactory@614clinton dispatch was an Email. Fuel was a card at the pump. I was a company driver so no insurance,no maintenance.Parking was finding a slot and sliding in. I could spend days without speaking to anyone. Road rage isn’t much of a thing when you’re 7X the size of the traffic.
@gloomfactory@KShrugged@614clinton dispatch, fuel islands, shops, service trucks, parking lots, insurance shops, irs, accountants ya driving truck will make you want to be a teacher at a elementary school to work with intelligence
@djustthetude@614clinton I drove for 2 years, made about 90K a year. Stayed out, lived in my cab and stacked coin. No rent or bills. Could have made more but was really just trying to get my head right. 2021-2023
@Frosty_Xan@614clinton Don’t know where you are but get with your state employment office. School I went to was subsidized by them. They didn’t get paid until you got your ticket. EVERYONE passed eventually.
