1/8 A little project I’ve been working on with an awesome team to support messaging on ventilation & support our public health response in NZ. Spread the word because #covidblows and we can make a difference if we ventilate. @airtimeforair

Mentioned this work with Nanogirl at #CleanAirForum at Australian Parliament House yesterday. Working with @NanogirlLabs again this year to take the show to schools with PD for teachers, funded by Unlocking Curious Minds @MBIEsci

You may have heard that opening windows helps to increase ventilation & reduce the transmission of COVID-19 & other germs indoors. But what if it’s cold outside? We spoke to Dr Ian Longley @NiwaIan at @niwa_nz for tips based on his research. Full video at youtube.com/watch?v=LS4x8W…

Today was brutal. Got called a "cunt" for asking a kid to stop threatening another kid with a group bashing. Got told to "fuck off" by another for asking him to erase the white board he had been writing on. Exhausted and troubled. Some of the kids are so damaged and angry.

Health professionals are extremely concerned about the low immunisation rates in tamariki in Aotearoa. We've created a QR code poster to make it easy to get to our immunisation content. Check it out👇🏾(& share it with anyone who might find it useful!) kidshealth.org.nz/kidshealth-qr-…

Libraries are not nice to haves. They are core council services. They are not places to just take books out and not just digital either. Libraries are community hubs, our communities gather here,we have events there, storytimes, programmes, language week celebrations so much more

School should be one of the safest places a child can be. Instead, NZ's business-as-usual policy for schools in the Omicron outbreaks had heavy impacts on children, staff, and whānau. We can - must - do better in 2023. In our article in NZMJ out today 1/3 journal.nzma.org.nz/journal-articl…

A special moment. Last night upon my return from Fiji, I brought with me 34 Fijian Defence and Emergency Personnel to help with the floods and cyclone clean-up. It is truly humbling to be on the receiving end of this level of love from all our Pacific aiga. 🇳🇿🇫🇯

Measles has arrived in Aotearoa. It's a serious disease and very easy to catch. Make sure your kids are immunised against measles. Talk to your family doctor or practice nurse. Check our page on measles immunisation ⬇️⬇️ kidshealth.org.nz/measles-immuni…

1/3 We’ve identified a person with #Measles in New Zealand. Measles is highly contagious and can be serious in those not protected. MMR vaccine provides great protection and is free. If you/your whānau aren't vaccinated or aren't sure - contact your GP to check if you need it.

A 'marketing playbook' pushes people towards formula milk globally. Tactics include preying on parents' concerns and making misleading false claims, which come at the expense of the health and rights of children, women, and families. hubs.li/Q01zjg1J0 #ProtectBreastfeeding

For those unaffected in Auckland please don’t forget how bad this is. It’s rough. We need your help. Please do what you can to help local orgs or donate. If you know someone who’s been impacted, or a street close by is, please clear your weekend & go find out what they need.

Please stay out of the water. To avoid illness! Pump stations on the Shore are still significantly damaged. @watercare_nz has amazingly fixed some but others are still not working. The wall of water in these areas was two metres high at some points. It created a lot of damage.

⛔Don’t walk, swim, or play in flood water! Flood water can contain hidden debris, chemicals, animal waste and human sewage that can make you sick. Keep your kid’s away from flood water, if it’s not safe for you, it’s not safe for them.⛔
