The Rise and Fall of Safi Juice: What Happened to Our Childhood Drink? If you grew up in Uganda, Safi was the ultimate treat. Founded around 1998 by House of Eden (U) Ltd, Safi juice quickly became a legendary staple for school kids and parties across the country. The company saw massive success in its early days, even investing $2M in 2004 to launch Azur bottled water. For a long time, it felt like Safi would be around forever. The sweet run ended abruptly in October 2014. Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) raided and shut down the House of Eden factory. Inspectors caught the company using expired raw materials, specifically an ingredient called 'Carmosine' used for the juice aroma. Furthermore, authorities cited poor storage conditions, a lack of protective gear for workers, and terrible waste management. KCCA immediately ordered a massive recall of all Safi products distributed since April 2014. Been seeing the drink in supermarkets recently, did the company bounce back? 👀

Let's settle this once and for all. Which is better?
