A charitable run - funds go to helping landmine victims, those with disabilities including para-Olympians, and childrens hospitals across Cambodia among other great causes. Running is encouraged to build human compassion and alleviate post war trauma in a still troubled region

"I've done it!" On 16 September 1977, Andreas Grüntzig made history: he carried out the first #angioplasty, and changed the lives of millions of patients forever. Standing on the shoulders of the giants that came before him, his vision and determination drove an entire new field of cardiology: Interventional Cardiology Listen to this description of his incredible journey by Jean Marco, who knew him and was also a pioneer in the field. Jean Marco carried out his first angioplasty in 1979 and was inspired by Gruntzig's example to launch a LIVE demonstration Course in 1982. This ultimately paved the way for the first PCR Course in 1989, founded with Jean Fajadet in Toulouse, and gave birth to PCR as we know it today. From the legs to the coronaries: How Andreas Grüntzig reached his dream 📺 🎧 pcronline.com/About-PCR/hist… (interviewed by @kiadeb87 ) More about the history of PCR here 🔗 pcronline.com/About-PCR/Who-… #interventionalcardiology #medicalhistory #interventionalcardiologist #cathlab

When I was 12, the teacher got us to make a presentation to give to the class on something important to us. Some did football teams, one of the girls talked about her dog. I nervously but passionately told the whole class about the awful plight of silkworms

Two people who collaborate well will be about three times as effective as each of them operating independently, because each will see what the other might miss--plus they can leverage each other's strengths while holding each other accountable to higher standards. #principleoftheday

Sometimes, in our medical silos, information from another speciality breaks through the firewall and the advances sound like science fiction. Extraordinary progress in HIV.
Samuel Hume@DrSamuelBHume

Prevention beats cure, which is why it's so exciting that Lenacapavir, a twice-yearly HIV preventative, just got approved for the first time (by the FDA) Why is it such a big deal? When trialled (in women in South Africa and Uganda) there were 0 HIV infections 🧵
