@claius_s Really the saddest truth that we Filipino horse racing fans have to bear atm. Hagdang Bato was one of the horses that could put PH in the horse racing map but was hindered by our situation. I honestly believe that we could compete and given time, at the top level.

Almond Eye gets called “overrated” so often that she’s actually become underrated at this point. Realistically, the only horses I can see beating her over 2400 meters at Tokyo are Deep Impact or Equinox—and even then, with those three, the result would probably come down to race shape and circumstances. If we’re talking pure romance under the condition that he were raised and trained in a modern environment, Narita Brian deserves a mention too. A lot of people misunderstand Almond Eye’s records as well. When she set them, the Tokyo track conditions were actually less conducive to fast times than they are today, making those performances even more impressive than they’re often given credit for.
