@kleverklogs1 @rilethunder @Rallyo56 @anxientkana Nobody forgot 1.x, 2.4, or 2.8, but you're making a critical mistake. This is a protagonist-centric story. The narrative revolves around Rover, and the world is alive. Characters have lives that we, the audience, are not always privy to. That's the direction Kuro has been going.

@Kaitsja @rilethunder @Rallyo56 @anxientkana "Happened to intersect" it was deliberately written in by the writers. It comes off as forced and weak because they didn't do the narrative build up necessary. Did you guys forget 1.x, 2.4 and 2.8? They do put in work to build relationships between characters usually

Do you just want this in the main story, because even in 3.0 the game gives you a lot of hints that these characters exist and talk to each other without you being present. Like they go to the same university, do you also want them to invite you to the tea party or something?

Dear KURO Games you gotta Build up the dynamics before giving us moments like these otherwise it's hard to care🙏

@Rallyo56 @anxientkana I'm not blindly defending anything here, mind you. I'm pointing out structural limitations that you're intent on pretending don't exist just because you want meaningful side character to side character interactions and development.

@Rallyo56 @anxientkana These characters have lives that we're only privy to when the narrative intersects with them. ZZZ's hybrid approach allows for ensemble storytelling outside of the narrative, while keeping the narrative protagonist-centric. That works for ZZZ. But that's not what Kuro wants to do

@Rallyo56 @anxientkana There is a lot I could say to that, but it's clear that what you want is an ensemble story. Nothing wrong with that. But that's not what Wuwa is. It's not what Kuro wants it to be.

@Kaitsja @anxientkana "No time/space" and "hard to change architecture" are excuses. Kuro already overhauls combat, exploration and endgame every patch. Adding light overworld interactions is far easier than "upending" the story. It's a choice, not impossibility, and it's why WuWa's cast feels hollow.

@rilethunder @Kaitsja @Rallyo56 @anxientkana The post that started this is literally showcasing a main story moment with those characters. If they want to do that, they need to develop them in the main story too. Rover actually developing a friend GROUP is important to the story, so they should spend time making it a group

@Rallyo56 @anxientkana We only get glimpses into characters lives insofar as they intersect with the narrative arc. ZZZ takes a hybrid approach. Protagonist-centric narrative, ensemble-driven world. Wuwa rarely does ensemble writing. The architecture of any story is hard to change once written.

@Rallyo56 @anxientkana Being meaningful doesn't change that it's bloat. Focusing on 3.0 to 3.2, there isn't time or space to develop these bonds. The narrative is protagonist-centric. (1/2)

@Rallyo56 @anxientkana Showing them interacting in the overworld is a good idea. Kuro's in a tough spot with it. Add it to the MSQ, you get bloat. Add it to side quests, you get homework. Can't upend the entire narrative structure to accommodate it either.

@Rallyo56 @anxientkana Okay, so where do we draw the line then? Lynae knew Sigrika and Denia already. Should that dynamic have been shown developing? How about Chisa and her parents reuniting? How about Mornye, Luuk, and Lucilla? You get the picture. The narrative cannot stop to show all of it.

@anxientkana It's a gacha story, not your real uni friend group. If the game only tells us they have deep off-screen bonds instead of showing them, the dynamic feels fake as hell. "Hints" aren't storytelling.

@Raspabollos1 @Riju1T_T 3.1 and 3.2 simply do not have room nor time to slow down and develop these dynamics. The complaint is that the Chisa/Lynae dynamic comes out of left field. And it feels that way because it was developed offscreen. Because these characters continue their lives offscreen.

@Riju1T_T Well, I haven't played the story from 3.0 part 2 onwards, but I really felt it in Chisa and Lynae's MSQs.

@chrono732 @RuneVerb341 But is it wrong? Did you expect some expert in game development to slide into the comments and drop a thesis on why those files are there? The average person isn't going to know. Asking AI is the equivalent of being told to google it back in the day.

problem is not only with single "ehe". some lolcowlizers are not even hiding the fact of mistranslation here and there just because "i have control over otaku content" the sole idea of delivering exact meaning of phrases drives them crazy, they want their headcanons to be real

@agekk_ Yeah, no. That's for the camera. Normal people don't say "whoopsies. Nonetheless, it's still wrong to change the line. The character doesn't say stupid shit like that

@morganshibaIN @Yaniversety Look at the change from "Ehe" to "Whoopsies". "Ehe" is a playfully embarrassed expression in Japanese. In English, it sounds childish. Immature. Infantile. So it gets localized. But that's bad, because the language they've romanticized isn't being treated as sacred.

@morganshibaIN @Yaniversety There's a lot of outrage over localization. Some justified. Most of it not. You can look at the other side's perspective, but it's not exactly glamorous.. A large part of it is that a line gets changed, because it doesn't map cleanly onto English, and suddenly localization = bad

And we have non-native japanese speakers speaking like they know better when they don't. Imagine trying to talk about a language you don't even understand then using a "HE SAID, SHE SAID" as your argument for poor localization. Then attacking us calling you weebs and elitists? LMAO How bout you get off your superiority complex and stop attacking other communities for liking something you don't like. People really love to jump the hate train without really knowing what they're getting into.

@DigitalAlucard @Yaniversety It’s always the monolinguals who can’t comprehend why ppl actually do not like certain Dubs due to poor localization. And their only excuse is to assume someone’s an elitists or a weeb.

@Glaivekiyo I feel like if that was what was meant in JP/CN that this is actually good localization, because it would sound stiff in English.
