A Witnes and Jos based have alleged that armed men believed to be Christians ethnic militias in Mangu community blocked roads in Sabon Gari, Mangu LGA, on Saturday and targeted Muslim travelers, pulling them from vehicles and killing them in attacks that reportedly went on for hours. Aliyu Naziru Officer, a Jos-based resident, claimed the violence followed an earlier clash between Fulani residents and locals in Mangu. “The Mangu people blocked the road, pulling Muslims out of vehicles and killing them,” he alleged, adding that security personnel present failed to stop the shootings. A second eyewitness who said he watched from a rooftop described attackers stopping cars and demanding that Muslims be handed over. “You would see them drag a person out and shoot them repeatedly… If they saw you had been shot, then definitely you were Muslim and would finish you off,” he said. He alleged seven civilians and two soldiers were killed before reinforcements arrived around 6:00 PM. The ethnic identity of the attackers has not been independently verified.
