I don't know Shepherd, or the rules at APTN. But at CBC, any reporter/editor engaged in this sort of thing needs Director-level approval. Did that happen here? If not, heads need to roll. cbc.radio-canada.ca/jsp
Lindsay Shepherd@NewWorldHominin

Here are some emails that I received from Molly Gore ("Pam Gibson") and Igor Vamos ("Michael Smith") as part of the "prank" show that CBC/APTN will be airing. This is how they were communicating with me

It is simply incredible: During large-scale NATO exercises on the strategically vital Swedish Baltic island of Gotland, Ukrainian drone pilots—acting in the role of the aggressor—repeatedly and completely "annihilated" the Swedish (and, by extension, NATO) troops. The exercises had to be halted three times because, under real-world conditions, the Swedish units would have already been eliminated. Pilots using the call signs "Tarik" (1st "Azov" Corps) and "Karat" reported that while the Swedish troops possess potential, they must massively improve their drone technology, tactics, and—above all—their understanding at the leadership level. Sweden’s Supreme Commander, General Michael Klässon himself, emphasized that all NATO armies urgently need to learn from the Ukrainians how modern drone warfare is conducted—noting that the "fastest way" is the direct adoption of Ukrainian experiences. Source: Reporting by the Associated Press (AP) news agency, which was on the ground (May 2026, during the Aurora 26 exercises). After more than four years of intense, high-tech warfare in Ukraine—featuring countless drone attacks, daily lessons learned on the battlefield, and thousands of documented missions—it is truly staggering that large segments of NATO apparently still fail to grasp the fundamental nature of modern warfare.

The stupidest part of this is the reputational harm that it does to APTN. They do excellent local journalism at places the CBC couldn't find on a map and do serious and smart coverage of the national issues this moronic prank show tried to cover.

In politics, you're done when you become a joke. Same in journalism. @NickKristof - and the editors at the @nytimes who green-lit the Jewish rape dogs story - have become a punchline. A joke. This one is going to follow them around to the end of their days. They're done.

Despite a $120,000 family income, @oliviachow lived in the publicly-subsidized Hazelburn co-op in Toronto and paid $800 a month for a three bedroom + den unit. According to the co-op, she should have been paying hundreds more. Thousands of people were on the waiting lists for the kinds of units Chow occupied. She moved out shortly after getting caught by the media. All of that is verifiably true. And it is considered so damaging, Chow's campaign has done secret focus group research on what to say about it. It reminds us all, inter alia, that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. #topoli

@OrbitStudios Kindly provide one actual example of Jen or Matt doing that. Jen especially has been very vocal from the beginning on her criticism of the separatist movement.

Europe has been a bureaucratic quagmire where healthy economies go to die. Canadians who understand geopolitics want no part of it. Our relationship with the United States is going through a rough patch, but they're still our strongest trading partner and next door neighbor.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz just called the EU a "complete failure" in front of global elites by stating, "Germany & Europe have wasted incredible potential. We have become the world champion of over-regulation & zero growth."

Two Toronto newspapers put the shooting of Jews in front of a synagogue today up top in their papers. Two other papers didn't even mention it, from what I can see. Very disappointing. #topoli

Not a single purchaser of crude oil in the world asks nor cares about the carbon footprint of the barrel, instead is 100% focused on accessibility, affordability, and reliability. I do not see how we overcome this massive misunderstanding which underpins all ongoing negotiations.

Just the sweetest thing happened to me on an Air Canada flight this morning... Fly a lot, usually in Economy unless I get upgraded for free. Flight attendants brought me a little note and gift on my way to Quebec City. Totally made my day. Thank you Julie, Melyna, Alisson and Maryyam!

"The industrial carbon tax is unique to Canada ... no other major oil producing nation in the world has one ... (it) incents industry to invest outside of Canada" - Jon McKenzie, CEO of Cenovus, the second-largest oil and natural gas producer in Canada. Business leaders are clear: the Liberals' federal industrial carbon tax directly drives investment OUT of Canada and does NOT incentive decarbonization. Canada cannot become an "energy superpower" like the PM claims, while the Liberals keep anti-development laws that are unique to Canada and drive $1 trillion of investment to the U.S. and abroad. This tax will continue to put Canadian operators at an even further disadvantage to the Americans, who don't impose this tax on themselves federally. Only the Liberals punish Canada's workers, while allies and competitors like the U.S. unleash their development and dominate global markets. Only Conservatives will repeal the federal industrial carbon tax to make Canada competitive and attractive for investment, for energy self-sufficiency, sovereignty, and security.

Jon McKenzie, CEO of Cenovus, came out swinging on their Q1 conference call today. Great to see CEO's becoming more vocal about our squandered opportunity! To summarize: no other oil producing country is doing this to themselves...time for Canada to wake up!
