His name was Manjunath Shanmugam. He was an IIM Lucknow graduate. He got a job with Indian Oil Corporation as a sales officer. His territory was Uttar Pradesh. He found that petrol pump dealers were adulterating fuel and cheating customers. He reported it. He sealed the pumps. On November 19 2005 a petrol pump owner shot him dead outside his office. He was 27 years old. The killers were convicted. Sentenced to life imprisonment. His parents did not get compensation for 15 years. His college created the Manjunath Shanmugam Trust in his name to fight corruption. Some men die because they refused to look the other way. India forgets them too quickly.

In a quiet corner in @MudumalaiTR lies a local solution to the #LPG crisis & helping stem the foxing issue of #Lantana an aggressive invasive weed chocking forests (occupies over 40% #tiger reserves) across #India. So here is what @tnforestdeptis doing, with help of trained & employed local tribals: Systematically remove the #lantana → reduce them to chips → transport to factory →pulverise to fine, uniform powder →solar dry →dry lantana compressed, binded w/o binders using only press & heat→cooled, cured, packaged. And voila, you have lantana #briquettes that provide highly efficient cooking fuel in grt demand in surrounding #teaestaes & schools. Essentially invasive weed → cooking fuel replacing firewood & restored #forests. The #Muddumalai mgt cannot keep up with the demand. #Circulareconomy #TNForest #lpgसंकट #ecosystem

Can sound really put out fire? These students are trying to prove it. 📢🔥 At Government Polytechnic Sundernagar, a group of students has built a low-cost prototype that uses sound waves (30–60 Hz) to extinguish small flames without water or chemicals. The idea is simple yet fascinating: Sound waves can disturb the oxygen around a flame, making it harder for the fire to survive. This isn’t entirely new. Similar concepts have been explored by organisations like DARPA and student researchers globally. But what makes this story stand out is where it’s coming from—a government institute, driven by curiosity and jugaad. This is not a paid crowd. This is not a scripted public. These people have come on their own, spending own money. Modi should see what a real leader’s rally looks like. @Wangchuk66 is not just Ladakh’s, but now the pride of India. Rousing welcome🫡

this is actually insane > be tech guy in australia > adopt cancer riddled rescue dog, months to live > not_going_to_give_you_up.mp4 > pay $3,000 to sequence her tumor DNA > feed it to ChatGPT and AlphaFold > zero background in biology > identify mutated proteins, match them to drug targets > design a custom mRNA cancer vaccine from scratch > genomics professor is “gobsmacked” that some puppy lover did this on his own > need ethics approval to administer it > red tape takes longer than designing the vaccine > 3 months, finally approved > drive 10 hours to get rosie her first injection > tumor halves > coat gets glossy again > dog is alive and happy > professor: “if we can do this for a dog, why aren’t we rolling this out to humans?” one man with a chatbot, and $3,000 just outperformed the entire pharmaceutical discovery pipeline. we are going to cure so many diseases. I dont think people realize how good things are going to get

Laura Loomer flew to India. Before she left she deleted all of her anti-Indian tweets. Thousands of them. Gone. She thought nobody would notice. An Indian uncle noticed. He read them back to her on camera. Every one. Her own words. Her own bigotry. Directed at the people whose country she was visiting as a guest. This is the woman who has the personal cell phone number of the President of the United States. This is the woman who shaped immigration policy from Mar-a-Lago. She deleted the evidence before crossing the border. The internet is forever. The uncle is a hero.

After a strong weather depression hit us today, bringing heavy winds and dust, our tent was destroyed… and we were left with nothing. It was a very hard day for us. My wife Yara was crying and saying: “Our lives have been destroyed… we are trapped in this difficult life. It seems the world has forgotten us in Gaza.” I tried to comfort her and told her: “Do not lose hope, Yara… there are still people who think about us. They will not leave us alone.” So I wrote this tweet. If you see this and still think about us, please leave a 🍉 or 🇵🇸 or even just a dot (.) A small comment from you might bring hope back to my wife’s heart and give us some strength to continue.
