The Rockets won 52 games while missing two of their five best players and with the worst bench in basketball. Marcus Smart who is anywhere from our 6th to 8th man this upcoming season would’ve been a top-5 Rocket last season. The corpse of Steven Adams and Fred VanVleet are LEAPS and bounds better than the bench units we had last season. And I think the young core — specifically Amen Thompson — takes a leap this season. I would still make changes to the roster to solidify contender status if it was up to me, but people acting like we’re somehow regressing/won’t be a strong regular season team is crazy to me.

High-ranking officials across the NBA believe this new anti-tanking reform will de-incentivize losing while drawing lottery balls for all 16 qualifying teams. It also incentivizes winning, particularly during the second half of the season, as the teams ranked near the bottom three would want to get out of the relegation zone while teams above them work for victories to stay out of the relegation zone.

The "3-2-1 lottery" proposal, named to represent the number of lottery balls per team, would expand the lottery from 14 to 16 teams. Teams that do not qualify for the playoffs or play-in tournament but stay out of the relegation zone (spots four through 10) would receive three lottery balls each. Teams with a bottom-three record -- the relegation zone -- would have just two lottery balls but have a floor of the 12th pick while the rest of the 13 lottery teams could fall as far as the 16th pick. The 9th and 10th play-in seeds in each conference receive two lottery balls each while the losers of the 7-8 play-in games receive one lottery ball each. In addition, no team would be able to win the top pick in consecutive years or be able to win three consecutive top-five picks. Teams also would not be able to protect picks in the 12 to 15 slots going forward.

I have no idea what’s going to happen with this team this offseason, but I surely hope Kevin Durant is back next season. KD fulfilled his end of the bargain. Injuries, roster construction, and some questionable coaching decisions (mainly Reed’s role) derailed this season.

@BiasedHouston Rockets can enjoy being the newest destination of the series of failed superteams if they do this kind of trade.

I actually think the Bucks lose this trade, they could extract so much more from the Rockets in the scenario Houston wanted Giannis. I just think this trade does nothing to actually solve the problems of the team while killing the outlook of the team. We lose now and later.

I really am starting to think its best Sengun to go to another NBA team. And start over. Its best for both sides. I was getting upset with my fellow Turkish fans who were responding to this kind of nonsense with; “trade alpi”. Not anymore. I am not someone who jumps to conclusions very quickly, i watch and observe. The Sengun hate in this fanbase is not just loud jigglers who cant let go, they are much more than that. The difference between the Big Three and anybody else is that when it came time to take over from the previous generation, they CRUSHED them into retirement. Sinner and even Alcaraz have been allowing Djokovic to polish off his career and win everything he was missing. Even Rafa had winning records before he hung up his racket. Nobody will EVER come close to these guys.
