I really do wish that when people sent in photos of spiders for ID to museums that they were of a quality where you can see the spider.

Just received this beautiful specimen of a Sunfish (Mola mola) from an aquarium in Japan, on behalf of a client in the UK. The client wants the specimen skeletonised. It measures 29cm across and 38cm high from tip of fin to fin #elasmomorph #molamolafish #fishskeleton

Earlier this year I joined the @OSMDunedin team on a trip to the southern fiords, Preservation and Chalky Inlets. They were making a documentary about the history of this area which was a once bustling area but is now a remote hard-to-access area of NZ. youtube.com/watch?v=DmH43-…

@TayTalksTrees @Charlotterubyp I'm probably dreaming too, but reinstating the greater Dunedin commuter or more regular excursion trains would be awesome. Then it would be running an electric bus/van for a small branch portion of the trip from a station nearest Orokonui.

Incase you thought I was just being a bit silly this is why I walked today. Even though I am going to bus home I will still have to walk around 6km to catch the nearest one. Not just people with cars should be able to visit wild spaces and engage with wildlife.

Ata Marie it’s a stunning morning in Ōtepoti and I’m walking the 23km to work. All part of celebrating alternative transport options for #CarFreeDay

It's international car free day today. So i rode to work to @OtagoMuseum like i do most days. This is my bike. A leader track bike with a practical front basket flatbar combo. This was originally my buddy Dylan's bike and his mum gifted it to me when he died.

Fun panel discussion yesterday on visualising science. I talked about portraying stories through images. Photos from @OtagoMuseum by me 70 Kea beaks that were collected as part of the bounty system in which you could get payment for killing these birds, almost to extinction. 1/8

Economist: safer speeds is stupid. They need to subject it to a proper cost-benefit analysis People: they did one and it showed $7.70 in benefits for every $1 spent Economist: glerrrghgh ah well actually I'll need to carry out a robust analysis of that analysis

I brought some second hand Spiders of New Zealand books, only to find these photos of Ray Forster and C L Wilton inside. As a budding #arachnologist i’m thrilled! 🕷🕷🕷

It's Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, Māori Language Week so we're celebrating by sharing some Reo names for common rocks and processes. We'll have a different focus for each day, so stay tuned! 🙌 Ngā kupu o te Rāhina (Monday's words) describe some toka parataiao - sedimentary rocks ⬇️
