Chief Minister stressed that lasting peace depends on inclusive growth while launching the State Focus Paper 2026–27 The document projects a credit potential of ₹3,500 cr, with a major focus on agriculture, MSMEs and rural sectors, for driving grassroots development in Manipur.

The Enforcement Directorate is probing a case based on an FIR registered at Lamphel Police Station against Yambem Biren and Narengbam Samarjit, who face charges including sedition and waging war against the State for allegedly declaring Manipur’s independence in 2019.

Protests intensified in Manipur on March 17 as demonstrators attempted to march towards the Census Directorate at Porompat, demanding suspension of the census exercise until identification of illegal immigrants and implementation of the National Register of Citizens.

Manipur Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam informed the Manipur Legislative Assembly that the peace agreement with United National Liberation Front (Pambei faction) is in force, with 1,435 cadres already verified & placed in designated camps as part of the rehabilitation process.
