We have concluded the distribution of maize seeds and avocado seedlings to over 10,000 farmers across Nakuru County. This two-day exercise began yesterday and focused on supporting People Living With Disabilities (PLWDs) and other vulnerable farmers. Some of these farmers had not yet planted due to limited resources. We reached 44 wards where agriculture is the backbone of the local economy, distributing over 40,000 kilograms of maize seeds and 20,000 avocado seedlings to boost immediate food production and strengthen long-term agricultural resilience. We remain committed to ensuring farmers access subsidized fertilizer conveniently and affordably. In line with this, Mauka Cooperative in Mauche Ward, Njoro Sub-county, has become the second society to benefit from our cooperative model for fertilizer distribution, receiving 630 bags. This follows the successful distribution of 1,200 bags to Kamasis Cooperative in Nyota Ward under the same program. Through this model, cooperatives generate an E-voucher with the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB), enabling direct delivery of fertilizer for distribution to their members. This approach reduces logistical costs, ensures timely access, and enhances farm productivity and food security. I encourage farmers to join or form cooperatives to take advantage of this initiative for easier access to subsidized fertilizer. In partnership with the State Department of Housing and Urban Development, we are finalizing the Modern Nakuru City Bus Park at Ziwani. With a capacity of 300+ vehicles, this new matatu terminus will improve transport efficiency and boost economic activity in Nakuru. Access to clean, safe, and reliable water for every resident in Nakuru County remains a key priority for my administration. In Karogoye, Lare Ward in Njoro Sub-county, we are working with the National Government to address water shortages and improve livelihoods.
