Last night I fiercely opposed the "Assault Weapons Ban" in Rhode Island ❌️ I unmasked 5 of the committee members voting on the bill potentially violating 🚨RI Ethics Law 36-14-5🚨 by presenting conflicts of interest! When I mentioned how Representative Jason Knight openly brags about getting his clients' gun charges dismissed on his law website, his knight in shining armor Representative Justine Caldwell freaked out, leading to me getting kicked me out of the hearing.

Testifying in favor of a bill that would allow *only* vape shops to be able to sell flavored vapor products in Rhode Island again. Flavored alcohol is sold exclusively at liquor stores and flavored cannabis is sold exclusively at dispensaries, so it is common sense that vape shops should be allowed to sell flavored vapor products. As long as cigarettes remain available at every gas station across America, adults deserve the opportunity to be able to purchase alternative products. Rhode Island has the chance to lead the country with this and carve out a pathway to protect vapor rights ❤️

I’m gonna go on a really dangerous limb here, and say as a psych nurse, I fully support this. I won’t get into the weeds on the harms of vapes, but I do know that Tobacco Harm Reduction is a real thing. I have plenty of patients over the years who quit cigarettes and cannabis by using vapes… and it was always the flavored ones, never the tobacco ones, that helped them get over the edge. We have a safe injection center in Providence so the Harm Reduction folks should be embracing this. Everyone knows that the push for their closure came from big tobacco.

Sometimes I just get started and can't stop. :-) The idea to allow both cigarettes AND nicotine vapes to be sold in age-gated dedicated shops WAS floated several years ago by some past-Presidents of the @srntorg. It's not a TERRIBLE idea if that's the only way to get ANTZ to calm down.

I agree with you Charles, and have testified in the past that I believe vapor products should be sold everywhere that cigarettes are sold because I believe in harm reduction. It's a very tough situation we are dealing with, here... Barely any vape shops are still surviving. If we could get these products back into our shops, it would be a major first step to reversing the damages that have already been done.
