@kearney_melissa @kearney_melissa I also looked forward to the "G&T" classes in the GA public schoools. You couldn't get tapped into the program until 5th grade and it wasn't expansive, but it definitely had impact.

Count me among one of those public school kids (albeit from NJ, not NY) who waited excitedly each week for when I would get taken out of boring regular class for “G&T”- that program ignited a spark and I am so grateful there weren’t private school progressives around to yell about it being unfair.

New York City’s gifted and talented program is what allowed me, an immigrant from a poor family of divorced parents, whose father was in prison, to rise above that and become successful. That this nepo baby is going to take that away is infuriating.
