@pitdesi @garrytan Yep - @ycombinator gave us the idea too. Speaking with other founders they too agreed that even a 1 point difference makes clear that one is more important than the other to the business.

@garrytan Many have given me the feedback that they got the idea from YC- you may want to update the website if what you recommend has changed. And please also recommend longer vesting, as this causes much pain for companies!

@Meta just dropped SAM3 and it’s a pretty big leap. Text and example prompting mean so much faster prototyping and much more… what a time to be alive.

@SherryYanJiang As a startup you don't really have a lot of other advantages. What you're doing can very likely be done better by any big tech/incumbent at any point (unless it's some real deeptech stuff) so your lovable for excel can only win if you build and iterate faster than they can.

Sherry Jiang is at ai engineer singapore
a lot of sf startups work 996 bc deep down they know they’re not building anything differentiated. speed is the only edge left when you’re making the 57th lovable for excel.

I'm building Kasqade.ai, the fastest way to prototype simple computer vision apps - current benchmark is about 1 min for the simplest use cases! I'm happy to let independent reviewers challenge that benchmark though.

@TrueAIHound Even in computer vision we're moving towards this with event cameras and event-based sampling like DAGr does. Bio-inspired design always wins!

As someone who studies the visual system of the human brain, I'm loving this. This is powerful evidence that biological vision, unlike computer vision, is driven by movements in the visual field. 😍 If you want to solve vision, understanding this truth is essential. Thanks for reposting this, @AlexanderNaume2. Great find.

True joy is in computer vision and robotics guys. There is treasure trove of insane alpha on algos, archs, and scrappiness lacking from LLM research community BUT cv community is lacking proper bitter pilled based research as LLM community is doing. I am trying to merge both

Thank you. Yes, a real metric for reproducibility is essential. There are practical ways to assess it: for example, tracking how many independent groups have repeated the key findings in a study, while also accounting for the difficulty of the work and the level of scrutiny it initially received among other factors. A result that survives repeated, unbiased testing under challenging conditions should be valued far more than a result that appears only once in a high-profile journal and then quietly disappears.
Heaven's Fulfillment@FulfillHeaven

[Context: biomedical] We just need to make the metrics the things we actually want rather than surrogates. We want real (reproducible) new knowledge and new technologies/therapies that improve human health and longevity. Science today has optimized people for the surrogates: publication and citation count. Meanwhile, reproducibility and real-world translation are horrendously bad, riddled with inefficiency and having abysmal success rates... The "experts" don't want to wrestle with this issue because it would require an admission that their training and operation systems need to be re-imagined - a sunk cost fallacy excuse intertwined with the pride of experience in the "traditional" approach.

@jbhuang0604 100% - instead of modeling computer vision after how the human brain perceives the world, we're starting to change our brains to see the world like computers do...

Glad to see California is one of the frontrunners in forming the new social contract and incentivizing the workforce to work in the more and more popular gig economy! May they set an example for the rest of the world! #CEOforOneMonth bbc.co.uk/news/business-…
