@BexBookaholic 🤞🏻
I will save it for my holiday - tackling the physical TBR pile at the moment!
English

@scitechbeck Let's see if it stays that way for the practical next week! 🤞🏻

@KatLawrence Finally nailed the ritual needed to appease the pondweed gods 😂

Happy British Science Week and #Techognition Day!
I love that I get to run outreach as part of my job. Today we hosted our BSW Competition winners, who asked the question 'Can you make an indestructible bubble?'. We certainly tried!
@TECHOGNITIONUK

English

Thank you @TECHOGNITIONUK
Sorry for the very delayed acknowledgement... the busy life of a lone tech 😕

English

@TechieLady1 @MossSafari I like a 'wonder' as suggested by Google AI. They certainly capture people's imaginations when they see them.
English

Checking my moss before open morning on Saturday and found this little cutie. 😍
Spotted another one and wondered, do we need a collective noun for tardigrades? Google suggested a 'squiggle'
What do we think @KatLawrence @MossSafari?
English

@BrecklandSci That'll Teach Her by Maz Evans. Picked it up as a blind book from the library and it was so good I couldn't put it down!
English

@TECHOGNITIONUK @labtech666 I was going to ignore it but I've been brave and replied to say that it is the whole point of the event to showcase what we Techs do day-to-day and how important we are to student's education. We are not irrelevant to student's parents/carers!
English

@KatLawrence @labtech666 Sorry to hear that Katrina. Sharing #TECHOGNITION news with parents is precisely what is needed - the general public understand the value of technician roles. Seems like your own staff could do with some understanding too!
English

I told our deputy head about @TECHOGNITIONUK and they are going to put something in the weekly newslatter to parents. First time at this school that anyone has taken notice!
English

@KatLawrence @AGSBioTechs @dgs_science @ScietechSmith Have been down an Internet rabbit hole.
These are over 1400 lumens apparently and come in all the fittings!
Not cheap, but cheaper than new lamps.

I need new light sources for the Photosynthesis RP - what lights do your classes use?
@dgs_science @ScietechSmith @TechieLady1 @AGSBioTechs and any other techs out there! 🙏🏻
English

@TechieLady1 @AGSBioTechs @dgs_science @ScietechSmith Can't find any of the smaller ones greater than 850 lumens so think I'm going to have a replace a bunch of lamps as well as the bulbs!
English

@KatLawrence @AGSBioTechs @dgs_science @ScietechSmith Mine are either E27 (screw in) or BC / B22 (bayonet). I keep them in separate trays to keep track.
That little one could be an E14 which is sometimes used in smaller lamps.
Buying light bulbs nowadays is a daunting exercise, too many choices 😢
Toolstation or B&Q should have them
English

@AGSBioTechs @dgs_science @ScietechSmith @TechieLady1 How do I source those!? I'm used to screw fit or bayonet - never seen a non standard size before

English

@AGSBioTechs @dgs_science @ScietechSmith @TechieLady1 I've just discovered half of my desk lamps have silly fittings that are like half the size of a standard screw in bit.... Don't know how to replace those!
English

@TechieLady1 @ScietechSmith @dgs_science @AGSBioTechs I have one of those for the prep room, but I never seem to manage bubbles. I'm hoping this might be the year that it works 🤞🏻
English

@KatLawrence @ScietechSmith @dgs_science @AGSBioTechs I bought one of these to get it going and it seems to do the trick.

In the rooms I have conventional angle poise lamps with the highest lumen bulbs I can get. I got some 806lm bulbs in Sainsbury's. 💡
English

@KatLawrence @dgs_science @ScietechSmith @TechieLady1 I'll take a look once I can get into the right classroom. I can never remember what the bulbs are, but they fit into normal desk lamps and look like normal bulbs, except they are bright and never get hot.
