This Sunday marks 8 years since my Dad took his own life. For years now people have asked “did you choose your career path because of how he died?” I’ve never felt comfortable answering. Now I can. “No, it’s because of how he lived .”

I’m tired. -Aug 12 2019: loved colleague & friend died unexpectedly -Aug-Dec-endless speeches & wrote articles about her, dealt with staff & my grief -Nov crashed & month off -Jan - hols, fires, Dad died unexpectedly -returned to work mid Feb; - March lockdown & #NotHomeScooling

To me, all these features that differentiate us, like wealth, position, status, and so on, are secondary. I truly believe we can learn to relate to one another on the basis of our shared humanity. And if individuals can learn to do that, there’ll immediately be a basis for trust.
