Hello dear friends of X! How've the last 6 months been for you? I'm still here, still working for the man. 💼 This year, I've relocated to Bristol (in March!) and I'm JUST about settled. 😂 I now WFH full time with monthly trips to the office. I don't talk much about my job ⤵️

Am I the only dev who finds the AI revolution really repulsive? Every news article pushes me one step closer to never going on the internet again!

My work has started a book club and this is the first read. 📖 I know I should read more - a lot of my knowledge is intuitive, formed by experience, but reading is so beneficial to allow me to articulate what I know, and fill in any gaps. It's so far a decent train companion 🚆

@KatyCodesStuff Well I ignored exercise for years (was never a fan which doesn’t help), I’m now in my late 40s, 18st and a bit, and every muscle and joint aches. So if that’s not a cautionary tale for you, I don’t know what is 😬

I keep working till 8-9pm and skipping the gym and then wondering why I wake up feeling like a zombie at 9am 🤔 Someone snap me out of this! Nothing's worth my health yet meanwhile 🫠

You know when I was young the one advice I used to get is "work smart" Only over the years I realized "to work smart , you need to work hard"

Planning to dust off (metaphorically) my collection of techy audio books and actually purposefully learn something. This is what's in my library... (I've half read Phoenix Project but it got too stressful 🤣) Any recommendations?

The AI X "Fast" thing is kinda GOATed, actually. It analysed my whole profile. I'm super surprised this is free. Or am I accidentally paying for something?! Who knows, but it's fun!

@badamczewski01 Very very early! What sort of fine tuning do you do? Working with the models is not something I've tried yet.

AI in the workplace - do you use it? 🤖 Most companies are rushing to define their "AI strategy" - and a lot of people (including me!) are skeptical. I don't tend to rush into new things. I'm not going to start "vibe coding" at this point in my career. ⤵️

Caveat - make sure you're using a tenanted instance of CoPilot etc - don't put your company's sensitive data into public AI systems! 🔏

But one thing I have LOVED is AI meeting summaries. Those are 🔥 and the time saved notekeeping is immense. 📝 Highly recommend exploring that for summarising and highlight actions to takeaway. ⤵️
