I just uploaded another project dataset (an RNAseq study) to SRA, BioSample, and BioProject - and along the way created step by step slide deck with screenshots of the process (web page captures and metadata tables, etc). Let me know if you're interested and I'll be happy to share it .
I remember early in my career uploading to NCBI correctly was a dark art (most people skip steps or don't bother with all the metadata, used off brand annotations, or just read "optional" as "skip it" - which sadly often makes data reuse a massive hurdle later on), so.... I'm training my team later this week on how to do it "right" (at least IMHO the right way). The deck is ~47 slides... so... maybe it will be helpful to someone else too?
I'm getting feedback from the team on the deck later this week. once I've updated it - I'll share it if anyone is interested. probably will throw it over onto Git or gDrive or something.

Some bacteria have linear chromosomes and therefore telomeres. As in eukaryotes, a variety of transposons have evolved to occupy bacterial telomeres and establish addiction mechanisms! 🤯🤯🤯 Amazing story by @JoePetersLab at #cshlTE24 and fantastic work by @PopoMicro

A huge thank you to my alma mater @UniversiteLiege for this honor. It was such a privilege to reconnect with professors, mentors, colleagues, and friends who made such a huge difference to me at an early stage of my scientific journey. 👨❤️💋👨

@abledoc @dr_alphalyrae Of I remember correctly, there is a chapter in the book « the creative curve » about that.

If you consider what it takes to get a Nobel, you would realise the importance of mentoring, directing you to an area of research that is counter current, but needs really deep insight to foresee.
It would be interesting to study how they started out, role of mentors.
If I become 25 again, I can work towards a Nobel, but the path is closed.

Interested in plasmid biology? Our new preprint is now available!!! 🚨
In this work, we analyzed thousands of diverse bacterial plasmids to characterize for the first time one of the most fundamental aspects of plasmid biology: Plasmid copy number. 1/7 👇

There is a new tool on BioIcons to turn any protein (in PDB format) into a 2D vector illustration in SVG format. You can upload any PDB file or import from PDB, AlphaFoldDB or ESMFoldDB. Feedback welcome :)

The @NIH's research integrity scandal involving neuroscience chief and #Alzheimer’s/#Parkinson’s scientist Eliezer Masliah is of an extraordinary scale. It might be useful to follow one thread of the investigation involving the experimental drug prasinezumab from @ProthenaCorp.
