Does it take more nurses to staff a ward working 3 shifts / 7.5 /8 hour days vs 2 shifts 12.5 / 13 hours? In theory, yes: longer overlaps, more handovers...it's a key motivation... however, as it turns out...our finding suggest even that benefit might be realised.... 1/7
