@DBecker1990 Yeah, I should have put "free"- it's not the way I want to spend my valuable time for sure!
English

@KaylenaRadcliff It’s not free, your time has value.
The success stories I’ve seen were people that had a dedicated server with a lot of RAM and edited results. Target a micro genre and use a pseudonym.
If you’re like me and have a potato laptop, it’s not an option.

@Tiff_Germain @abbythelibb_ This is how I read the original poster's intent. Not doing *concerted* bookwork but getting exposure in other ways- hands on field trips and living books.
English

@abbythelibb_ I’m not sure what level they forgot. Here, at my home, we don’t have actual science or history curriculums until high school. We read living history books often. For science, we learn as we explore. Because of this, my kids know more history and science than I ever knew.

I'm a homeschooled homeschooling enthusiast, and this isn't ok. Take an intentional break from one subject to focus on another? Great. Take a mental health day off a subject the student is struggling in to relieve the tension and reset? Great. Spread out summer break throughout the year so you can use it when it makes the most sense for your family? Great.
But **forgetting** two whole subjects for two whole months and then posting about it online like it's cute and relatable is not okay. Are we trying to drive homeschooling standards as low as public school standards? As long as they beat us in the race to the bottom, we've done right by our kids? Are we trying to convince lawmakers to push intrusive regulations? What are we doing here, people?
Homeschooling should be about giving your kids the best education you can. Not whatever this is.

@MichaelFKane That hurt to read. Great article @Kristin_Fiction

Flannery O'Connor, Mary Shelley, Lois Lowry, Shirley Jackson, Madeleine L'Engle, Ayn Rand... I could go on!
April Clark@autogynefiles
Sure. Which ones you do recommend?

@pearls4swineguy I'm afraid to see the results (said the author of a "Chronicles")

Squonks are cryptids that cry because they are ugly and dissolve into a puddle of tears if you see them

@BiblicalBeauty I've written a ya dystopian fantasy series for teens and older. Readers say it's like Hunger Games meets LOTR, but without the nihilism! Check out the 1st book here: amazon.com/Mouse-Elmnas-C…

@MEC288 I have a lot of friends who love CC. When I was first considering homeschooling I visited a co op & felt so overwhelmed. I loved the idea, but actual practice seemed so onerous. Thankfully I figured out what sort of homeschoolers we were!

“Have you guys looked into using Classical Conversations?”
“Yes.”
“Why did you decide not to?”

A generation ago: every educated person read these books. Today: the average graduate has never finished one. Homeschool families are restoring what was lost. Augustine called it "rightly ordered love." We call it Tuesday.

@iowancapreborn @RedHedgedragon The popular hardcover books with the gold foil and sprayed edges have got to run a pretty penny. People who don't actually read don't want any trade paperbacks on their shelf, it's an aesthetic
English

@RedHedgedragon How much do they think books cost?
English

1) ever heard of Goodwill?
2) I don’t want books that aren’t worth owning
3) I value books and therefore I am willing to spend money on them

All the people saying they don't go to the library: are you people millionaires?? Cannot imagine *buying* every book you want to read. You don't have to browse in there. You can put things on hold and just pick them up! Plus half the things I read are ebooks from Hoopla and Libby
English

@cirsova I can't write like this which is why I will be poor and readerless for the rest of my life
