@lastpositivist It's a similar issue with 3 Body Problem on Netflix. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it was captured perfectly in your post. The awe with which the San-Ti cultists regard their overlords just doesn't really stack up for me.

This is what the film is going for but one reason it didn't land for me is the character's conviction these are gods or something just seems so totally under motivated. All the worse cos one of them seems bizarrely disappointed that they found alien life so he undercuts it.

@AshRouten I can see your point. Especially since you're old school 😄.
I think of it a bit like rhythmic gymnastics, but without apparatuses, & having to improvise to music you haven't selected, while judges scrutinise your moves and execution.

@KazObuka To me they’re sports/games whereas dancing is a form of entertainment/art. Cricket isn’t even there! Personally I’d get rid of a lot of sports (such as football) from it and focus more on track and field like the original games. But hey, I’m old school.

Breakdancing in the Olympics, they’re having a laugh right? Surely Darts or Snooker should be there if breakdancing is. Is it just in there to keep relevance with the yoof?
