@horsevault @NewmarketSFA The year I was born , we haven’t seen his like at Epsom since despite many great horses gracing the race and I will count myself lucky if I see a better horse . The same could be said for Sir Peter as well 🙂

@CollingsBerry He looked magnificent and will probably come on for the run. The pre parade is one of the best ways to really appreciate and spend time with these amazing athletes

As ever, Aidan O’Brien sets the example of having Gstaad in the pre-parade ring good and early, as should be the norm for all G1 runners. People lining the rails to get a glimpse of these horses before they’re saddled and they deserve to see them.

Aragorn kneels. Gandalf places the crown on Aragorn’s head, and proclaims: ‘Now come the days of the King, and may they be blessed while the thrones of the Valar endure!’ The streets are strewn with flowers as Aragorn enters the City and begins the climb up its seven levels.

@cmoreton99 If you haven't done so Chris , I can highly recommend the chapter on Forego in the wonderful "Decade of Champions" by Patrick Robinson and the matchless paintings of Richard Stone Reeves . My introduction as a schoolboy to this mighty horse.

Forego's reign, despite a number of physical handicaps was just as unchallenged as that other great gelding, Kelso. As genuine as he was big, Forego withstood all but a few of the handicapper's best efforts to bring him back to the field.

@BennyBalke @LongBallToNoOne A wonderful run from Masquerade Ball but first run of the year against Romantic Warrior at home over 10f was too much to ask . He probably needs 12f on galloping track to show his very best

THE FWD QEII CUP - Gr.1 2000m in 2:00.64 min: Romantic Warrior: 21.91 / 11.23 Masquerade Ball: 21.67 / 10.95 (fastest finish) Sosie: 21.95 / 11.10 Masquerade Ball beaten by 0.16s despite strongest closing sectionals. A stronger early pace may have produced a different result.

In 1979, Laffit Pincay replaced Steve Cauthen on the 1978 Triple Crown hero Affirmed. Together, they won seven consecutive races, including the Jockey Club Gold Cup (pictured) beating the brilliant 3-year-old Spectacular Bid to clinch Horse of the Year honours.

The Silmarillion audiobook, narrated by Andy Serkis The official unabridged audiobook of The Silmarillion, published by HarperCollins, is narrated by Andy Serkis and was released on 22 June 2023. This project followed the huge success of Serkis’s readings of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, making him the voice of Tolkien’s legendarium for a new generation of listeners. In this audiobook, Serkis performs the entire text as edited by Christopher Tolkien, bringing dramatic depth to the ancient myths of Arda the creation of the world, the rise and fall of the Valar and the Eldar, the forging of the Silmarils, and the tragic fate of heroes like Fëanor, Beren, and Lúthien. HarperCollins produced the audiobook with a focus on clarity, pronunciation accuracy, and respect for Tolkien’s linguistic notes. While it does not include music or dramatization, Serkis provides a powerful, emotionally layered performance that aligns with the tone of Tolkien’s mythology. In short: it’s the first complete, officially licensed, professionally produced unabridged reading of The Silmarillion and Andy Serkis delivers one of his finest narrative performances.

Happy 62nd birthday to the master of motion capture, Andy Serkis! 🎂 🎉 One of cinema’s most underrated yet groundbreaking actors, Andy Serkis has redefined modern filmmaking through motion capture, voice acting, and physical performance. From Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit to Caesar in Planet of the Apes, his performances proved that some of the greatest acting happens beyond the face we see on screen. His iconic roles include: Gollum (The Lord of the Rings) Caesar (Planet of the Apes trilogy) King Kong (King Kong, 2005) Snoke (Star Wars sequel trilogy) Alfred Pennyworth (The Batman) Ulysses Klaue (Marvel Cinematic Universe) Beyond acting, Serkis is also a director, voice artist, and one of the pioneers of modern motion-capture performance, helping transform it into a respected art form in cinema.
