Been checked out of this god awful lore since Shadowlands, it was never going to get better. Only saving this is if we get WoW2 and it completely retcons everything from Shadowlands onwards and redoes the BFA storyline. Ain't happening.

Just saying, but the elf story line going to shit is directly caused by friendcraft that people promoted for years since "faction conflict bad". Reap what you sow.
