@KeflexKing Lol… Well, to my trained 👀 it’s a Hadrurus arizonensis (Giant Hairy Scorpion) as it was much larger than the Bark Scorpion and the fine hairs on it (difficult to see in video).

It’s been raining in the Phoenix area lately, desert critters are out for 💦 Found this rather large specimen on my way out of work this evening. Who can name the species??? Does it produce a relevant toxidrome??? #MedTwitter #TwitteRx

3/ I would think most asthmatics presenting to the ED with shortness of breath meet criteria for at least Step 2. And if they don’t, a visit to their PCP first might have done a better job at addressing symptom control before thinking a trip to the ED was it #asthma #FOAMed

The SMART strategy using ICS-formoterol as both maintenance and reliever therapy significantly reduces asthma exacerbations and ER visits. As a result, the 2024 GINA guidelines now recommend ICS-formoterol over SABAs for symptom relief starting from Step 2 (so basically everyone)

Looking at old PK data for albuterol and formoterol. Formoterol has similar, rapid onset compared to albuterol but with a longer duration of action... So why aren’t we using it more in the ED for acute asthma exacerbations? 🤔 Late night thoughts from the overnight EM pharmacist
