I go off because I do not consider myself immune to radicalisation. I make no pretensions toward some pristine moral inoculation or superior humanness. I am, like everyone else, susceptible to the slow drip of ideology and emotional contagion.
That said, I’ve painstakingly and deliberately attempted to construct my timeline brick by brick so that it reflects the kind of nourishment I crave: poems and essays from writers whose minds I revere, and expansive conversations/insights that stretch the bandwidth of my thinking.
But more often than I care to admit, my efforts are flattened and crushed with the indifferent efficiency of a panini press. I come online seeking mental communion, only to be inundated with foaming-at-the-mouth gender polemics. The same dreary algorithmic theatre; men vs. women, women vs. men, faux intellectual gladiators recycling tired tropes with theatrical urgency.
At first, I thought I could simply look away, but it is not that easy. I am not a disembodied sage on Mount Olympus. I am flesh and blood with sinews and nerve endings. If I am a god, then my feet are unequivocally made of clay.
I’ve made a conscious decision to defend my objectivity with the vigilance of a border guard. You see, I inhabit a meticulously regulated inner world where men and women do not see themselves as adversaries in some primordial war of the sexes.
I want to believe in the warmth of our shared humanity. And if that belief is delusional, then it is a delusion I am willing to cradle for the sake of psychological self-preservation.
I do not want to log on and be ambushed by acerbic screeds soaked in bitterness, rancid think-pieces that either pathologise men or demonise women. I want us to name and confront social maladies like rape culture, pay disparity, child marriages, the neglect of men’s emotional well-being and the stigmatisation of single women to name a few, without dragging along the festering baggage of grassroots misogyny or trauma-laced misandry.
Here’s the unsettling thing: if you engage long enough with these manufactured outrage cycles, the rot will insidiously take root in the layout of your mind.
This is why I step out to touch grass as often as possible. I will not let cynicism replace clarity.

@blockchainbalak Not surprised. They offer good compensation to the experts they hire.

Mercor went from $0 to $500M in 17 months.
Now they’re quietly on the path to a decacorn.
If you Google them, you’ll see “AI recruitment company.”
But that’s not what they are anymore.
Here’s the real story:
AI has already scraped most of the internet. To get better, models now need to be trained + tested by domain experts.
Think: radiologists labelling scans, lawyers marking up contracts, scientists verifying datasets.
Mercor built the bridge between those experts and model companies. A kind of GLG for AI evals.
It’s a classic picks-and-shovels play & it’s working.
They’re growing 10–20% WoW with long-term deals across Mag7 and beyond.

If you use AI to write, come close let me share a secret.
Most people look down on AI-written content, because it mostly denotes “low effort”.
But I’ve been writing for 7 plus years and using AI to write for 3.
Here are a few things you should do if you use AI to write.

#ChosenForChevening With over 100,000 applications annually and only 1% selected, I am deeply honored to join this prestigious global network of changemakers and to study at the University of Sussex through the Chevening Scholarship.
My journey has been driven by a passion for advocacy, governance reform, and empowering youth to hold systems accountable. Through my work with Connected Development (CODE) and the Follow The Money initiative, I have empowered citizens for community led transparency, encouraged civic engagement, and championed equitable governance.
These efforts have not only fostered greater accountability but also inspired a new generation of young leaders across Nigeria and beyond.
This incredible opportunity represents more than just an academic achievement; it is a commitment to building inclusive systems that uplift entire communities.
The knowledge, skills, and global perspectives I will gain at the @SussexUni will further equip me to strengthen governance frameworks, expand youth engagement strategies, and scale the impact of @Connected_dev’s mission.
I look forward to embracing the responsibilities and challenges of this next chapter as I continue my dedicated service to humanity and the pursuit of a more just and transparent world.

Every time I have the privilege of speaking with people far above my station, I am stunned by how startlingly human they still are.
It turns out that ambition does not vaccinate you against insecurity, nor does accomplishment silence the inner critic. And even the most celebrated rooms reverberate with the same questions we whisper in the dark: Am I loved? Am I safe? Am I seen?
In the end, we are all just people trying to make peace with our own reflection. Some of us are just doing it from fancier balconies.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata might not be a name known to many outside of Africa, but he was a shining star and legendary icon to the people of Nigeria.
I was honored to know him and his family during my childhood, and met him recently in my last visit to Nigeria. As one of the most successful entrepreneurs and business tycoons in Africa, Allah blessed him with immense wealth, and fame and power; yet everyone knew him to be a humble and honest man, and a philanthropist of the highest level: ever-ready to help others less fortunate, never greedy for more. He turned down political office, he never was accused of any scandal, he was ever-beloved to his people, and indeed entire country...
Such men are very rare indeed!
In my visit to him a few months ago, I asked him for advice. He said, "Honesty! Always, be truthful and sincere, and leave the rest to Allah." At the end of our conversation, he remarked, "I am ready to leave this world, and looking forward to return to my Creator."
He returned to his Lord at the ripe age of 93, and was buried today in the blessed cemetery of Baqi al-Gharqad, in Madinah.
May Allah forgive his sins and exalt his ranks and allow his progeny after him to continue his legacy!!

When my father died, I almost called him to tell him that my father had died. I'd always call him whenever there was any occurrence in my life. And so that was the most helpless I had ever felt. My heart, my actual heart - because I don't mean it figuratively - terribly ached.

When someone dies, the most painful tears aren't the ones you cry immediately after. They're the ones you cry when you begin to grieve their absence in random moments, their smells, their laughs, their voice, and the inability to create new memories with them.

~ In 2017, after film school, I made a short film about child education and labor. I knew I wanted to use Billion Naira Dream as the soundtrack. After shooting and editing, I DM’d Brymo to tell him about the film and ask for permission to use his song. He asked me to send the short film. Ten minutes later, he replied:
“Use it! I’m proud to have my song as the soundtrack for this short film.”
Here’s the short film : youtu.be/LMS7aYrPcCE?si…
