Birthright citizenship is more than a legal principle, it’s a promise.
A promise that in this country, you belong. That your future isn’t up for debate. That no politician gets to decide who is “worthy” of being American.
Today, as the Supreme Court heard this case, I’m standing with families across this country who deserve certainty, dignity, and protection under the law.

This morning, as the Supreme Court hears oral arguments on legal challenges to President Trump’s executive order purporting to end birthright citizenship, I joined a coalition of 24 attorneys general in making the following statement:

Minnesota showed up.
Because we’re not just here to fight what’s wrong.
We’re here to build what’s right.

We’ve already taken this fight to court once, and we’ll do it again if we have to.
Because in Minnesota, we don’t turn on our neighbors.
And we don’t let politicians target our kids to score cheap points.

Trump is trying to bully trans kids who just want to play on their school teams.
It’s cruel. And I will fight like hell whenever he or anyone else targets Minnesota’s children or trans community.

Trans people deserve to live freely, safely, and with dignity.
On Trans Day of Visibility and every day, I stand with our trans community.
I’m proud to have fought alongside you, and I’m not going anywhere.

People are paying more for the basics right now. Gas. Groceries. The things you can’t opt out of.
Not because people aren’t working hard enough. Because the system isn’t working for them.

If Donald Trump thinks Minnesotans will turn on our neighbors, he doesn’t understand this state. When he surged ICE here and killed two Minnesotans, we stood up for each other, not against each other.
Trump’s racist tirades can’t distract from the fact that his reckless and deeply unpopular war is driving up inflation, raising gas prices, and making life unaffordable for Minnesotans.
Here’s the truth: while Trump desperately protects the Epstein class and pardons outrageous fraudsters, I’ve been prosecuting and convicting them.
