@LoganDobson Its extremely stupid that people don't imagine that the biggest consumers of a product would also not be interested in it being as affordable as possible.

Imagine you run a 24 hour hamburger joint. You do pretty well. You sell 1000 burgers a week for $10 each, netting $5 on each. But almost all your money is made during “peak” hours when demand is highest — lunch, dinner. You net $5000 a week. Then a big change. A 24 hour factory opens across the street. The workers at the factory don’t have a set lunch hour, so they just run out for burgers whenever they feel hungry, roughly evenly distributed throughout the day and night. Burger demand surges — a little bit during those peak hours, but also at all hours of the night, mid-afternoon, early morning, all times you previously weren’t selling many burgers and your staff was mostly sitting around. With the surge in demand, you’re now selling 2000 burgers a week. You cut the price to $8 per burger (to encourage more factory customers), so you now net $6000 per week. Demand went way up, but you cut prices and are making more revenue and profit. At this point you might think I’ve told you a story about hamburgers. I’ve actually told you a story about data centers and electricity prices.

A kind of silly observation about Lena Dunham's memoir. She's always checking into hotels using fake names. And I may be naive but I didn't know you could still do this. I know celebrities did this 30 years ago, but don't they check ID's now? They won't check me in without one.

David Adelman: "I didn't like what McDaniels did. The game was over...in 2026 that stuff just doesn't happen anymore that's something that happens in the 80s where teams would continue to score but that's who he is"

@VicLombardi @AltitudeTV McDaniels’ shot, rather than letting the clock run out, was a punk, lowlife move. Jokic’s response was made out of frustration, but absolutely justified. There are players who would have tried to clock McD, rather than merely pushing him. I thought it was restrained.

One of the worst losses I can remember. Classless move by McDaniels. Jokic wasn't thrilled but I wish the Nuggets would have brought that kind of energy when it really mattered. Postgame show starts now on @AltitudeTV

🚨 HOLY CRAP! FBI Director Patel says leftist NGO Southern Poverty Law Center, which has now been indicted, was using donor to pay leaders of the KU KLUX KLAN to stage "HATE CRIMES" "They used the FRAUDULENTLY raised money by lying to their donor network—THOUSANDS of Americans—to go ahead and actually PAY the leadership of these supposed violent extremist groups. "Furthermore, our investigation revealed that the Southern Poverty Law Center—on TOP of perpetuating this widespread decade-long multimillion dollar fraud—conducted more criminal activity. They attempted to HIDE their criminal activity from our financial banking network. They set up shell companies and entities around America so that the financial institutions that we rely on as everyday Americans were DECEIVED in believing that money was NOT coming from the Southern Poverty Law Center in the perpetration of this scheme and fraud, but rather fictitious entities they stood up to perpetuate this ongoing fraud." @FBIDirectorKash

I love LA. But if it wasnt for the weather, we would be the poorest city in the country. Im legitimately worried the city cant be saved. Hollywood is shedding jobs. The people mover is sitting idle at LAX. Every neighborhood has empty storefronts. 1 house has been rebuilt in the palisades. Covid was 6 years ago. We cant keep blaming covid. We cant blame trump when every single office in the city, county, state is one party. I pay a lot of taxes to stay in this city. Hundreds of thousands of dollars or more. I dont want to run, but at a certain point its just logical to cut your losses. Population declines. Billions in fraud. Schools are now some of the worst in the country, being beat by Mississippi. Good thing it is fucking sunny, or else this place would fall into the ocean.

The compassion of this woman is well suited for the vocation of motherhood. But this is not who you want determining whether birthright citizenship should be legal. A woman as a mother is a precious gift, but a woman as a civil magistrate is the death of the nation.

Some of us expressed great concern about the Iran War when it was first launched. We were shouted down and condemned as “panicans” and “blackpillers” and even Islamist sympathizers. But it’s pretty clear from how things have gone that our concerns were absolutely reasonable and legitimate. Maybe Trump will get us out of this thing soon and it still won’t spiral into a long and drawn out war. But even if that happens — and I’m not convinced it will — no thoughtful person can deny at this point that the spiral and long war scenario is very much a possibility. No reasonable person, at this stage, can say that our concerns were irrational. What looks irrational now — and always did — is the demand for blind allegiance and unthinking “trust” in our elected leaders, as though we are called to have faith in politicians like we have faith in God.

@atrupar Is it? Shouldn't more people go on trial before a jury of their peers and make the state prove it's case beyond a reasonable doubt?
