@xanbarksdale I’ve also seen runners get catcher back picked because the base coach is talking to the runner and takes his attention away from getting back to the bag.

I'd be willing to bet that > 80% of pickoffs by the catcher are caused by one of these two things: 1. Lazy baserunners. 2. Missed bunts. OFFENSIVE COACHES: If you want to minimize pickoffs you need to require your baserunners to hustle, and you need to get bunts down. Until then, catchers are going to keep picking you off!

The Freshmen team finished their season last night with a doubleheader sweep of Kickapoo. They defeated every COC opponent, both East and West divisions, and went 24-1 over their final 25 games. Great spring of baseball for this group!

Don’t underestimate or under appreciate the value of a good tagger. It’s a skill that is probably under drilled.

@JulieBorowski Value perception is a big factor. A former boss of mine said he couldn't give away a working appliance tagged free, but someone knocked on his door just minutes after he marked $50 on a sign. People aren't rational consumers much of the time. That's why ad writers are creative.

When I was studying economics, I learned that people are rational. But is that true? For example, I sell things on ebay. I have found that people will pay higher prices if you give them a bigger discount. I get significantly more sales listing a shirt for $25 with a 20% discount vs. listing a shirt for $20 with a 10% discount- even though that's $2 cheaper. Yes, that larger discount percentage gives people a happy dopamine rush. Perhaps they value that feeling more than $2. Does that make it rational behavior?

@AVCoachSmith @xanbarksdale Jock straps with the pouch and two pairs of baseball pants was the norm when I was in HS. They hadn’t come out with sliding shorts yet. Outside the pants has got to be some TikTok thing.

@xanbarksdale There was a time when I was a kid in the 90s when sliders didn’t have an integrated pouch for the cup. So we had to wear sliders and a jock-strap separate. Some wore it under the sliders and some outside. 🤷‍♂️ Currently I have no idea.

@Carolina_JR_7 @JWonCATCHING If you leave the mitt at the target spot and the ball is low and you have to move the mitt down to catch it, the umpire will see the ball is low and out of the zone. If you move the mitt to the ground and pull the low pitch up into the zone, it presents as a strike to the umpire.

@scottpuryear MSHSSA isn’t getting the post-game sponsor money, of course they are going to cut the broadcast short. Is there a rule that a team can’t broadcast the post-game show on their own YouTube channel? During the game remind everyone to join them after the game on school YT channel.

Did those broadcasts have post-game sponsors, post-game interviews lined up all season? No harm, if there's post-game content, in letting the fans who paid their $10.66 to see it and grown accustomed to seeing it each week stick around and watch the interviews, etc. Those who don't like it, or were on the losing team, can turn it off and walk away. Or ... you can disconnect Nixa's internet connection when you just got your ass kicked so no one can see it.😂

Great job by the Nixa Live broadcast crew, in miserable weather conditions, of bringing the live TV web stream back to fans in the Ozarks and beyond. And way to keep it classy, @PattonvilleSD ... pulling the plug on the crew's internet access before Nixa was able to do a post-game show after the 45-0 win. If @MSHSAAOrg is going to charge fans to watch the post-season games, then there ought to be some type of disciplinary action taken toward a host that cuts that webcast off early. There were a bunch of happy @NixaFootball fans who would have loved to hear the thoughts of their Eagles and coach @jperry_nixa from a crew that froze their butts off through a couple delays to the start ... and wanted to finish their broadcast off the right way. @scoreboardguy @OzarksOzone @nixaschools
