All six teams that tied for second place in the Sun Belt lost their first game in the tournament. Turns out the seeding didn't matter after all. We have 10-seed Georgia Southern trying to win 6 games in 6 days for the title (vs. 1-seed Troy on Monday).

@WxmanTony The "first year in the conf." part was incorrect, by the way, but they were still not allowed to participate in the conference tourney at that point. Just wanted to be clear on that, in case you cared. :-)

@WxmanTony Thank you, Tony. I don't write Bubble Watch, but I can pass that along, as I remember that Utah State team. Another with <4 losses that was left out was College of Charleston in 1996. It wasn't eligible for the TAAC tourney (first year in the conf.) and didn't get an at-large bid

@KeithLipscomb Hi. In your last bubble watch under MIA (OH) you wrote the selection committee has never left out a team with <4 losses in a non-pandemic year. Pretty sure I found one: 2004 Utah St (Big West) entered their CT 25-2, lost their 1st game to CSUN 63-62, and went to the NIT at 25-3.

From ESPN Research: The Rams trailed by 11 in this game. They have two double-digit comebacks in the playoffs: -- Both are under Sean McVay -- Both were in an NFC Championship Game

I'm turning the page... After a 14-year journey at ESPN, spanning assignments in Bristol, Boston, and Chicago, this chapter as a bureau reporter concludes on Aug. 1. My Day 1 assignment in the Boston bureau was the day Aaron Hernandez was arrested - fulfilling my dad’s prophecy that you really will be surprised what you wind up doing in life. Great times with great people covering Monday Night Football on SportsCenter, the women’s hoops juggernaut, the National Spelling Bee and the Warrior Games, which I loved so much because of my family’s military connection. Along the way, there was a heavy dose of SportsCenter anchoring and a little podcasting, too. ESPN has some of the best storytellers, producers and editors around, and I’m thankful to have learned so much. Recently, I shared advice on a friend's podcast for those entering the industry: "walk through open doors.” Don’t be too rigid about your career, open yourself to possibilities. It's that approach that got me from reporting on Wall Street to the anchor chair in Bristol and front and center at championship games. Now, I'm taking my own advice. Up next: Looking forward to building and growing…if you're at AAJA in Seattle this month, let's connect… watch this space.

New headshot to go with the new contract. Like they say, "A happy man is God's plan." Words can't describe how much I love being able to work in 🏈 and the 615. Lord willing, I'll be in Nashville for many more years to come. #NoBadDays🌴🌴

One of the more absurd box scores I have come across: No. 5 Ellington defeated Hale Ray 1-0 in 14 innings #ctsb Ellington SP Camryn Fisher: 14IP, 2H, 1BB, 37Ks Hale Ray SP Lily Jahne: 14IP, 0H, 0ER, 3BB, 33Ks

No program epitomizes mental and physical toughness like Houston. Such an impressive comeback against an incredibly talented Duke squad. The Cougars still have only one loss in regulation this season ... in Game 2 against Auburn nearly 5 months ago.
