This isn’t stealing at all. This is politics in a Westminster Parliamentary system. It also says a lot when members from more than one side start to cross the floor…
I’m not even a liberal but this rhetoric doesn’t help.
Is the counter argument By-elections every time an MP crosses the floor?
That isn’t a cost effective for taxpayers at all. It roughly costs the constituents of that riding between 1.5-3 million dollars to hold a By-election.
It’s much more cost effective to create better strategy and learn from mistakes.
It’s also a much better comms strategy.

Everyone seems to forget that Canada uses the Westminster parliamentary system. By-elections for floor crossing won’t happen. And they shouldn’t happen.
Constituents are responsible for knowing who represents them. Voters remember and more often than not, punish the floor crosser at the polls by the time the next election comes around.
By-elections roughly cost the taxpayer of the riding between 1.5-3 million depending on size. It’s unnecessary.

As someone who grew up in the Ottawa Valley, eveyone wants Gallant to retire. And has for a long time.
The rumour is she was the first call after the election loss, but she told the team; “Not a chance in Hell.” Which is no surprise.
If the constituents of Algonquin—Renfrew—Pembroke knew this, they would outraged. That riding is as blue as they come, and would love to have the leader represent them. But surprise, surprise, it’s Cheryl’s world, and the constituents are just suffering in it.

I’d bet that either Gallant or Reid will retire so Poilievre can have their seat. As I said when he announced it, being an Alberta MP adds difficulties he doesn’t need.
